Barry was slightly puzzled by the female's awkward reaction. "Er..." But then he realized. "Oh good Lord." He mumbled, face-palming in embarrassment. "I apologize Miss, I wasn't thinking straight." He said shamefully. Smooth Barry, smooth. "Just so you're not further intimidated, I can assure you that I wasn't telling you to undress for my own benefit." He said uncomfortably. Not that there would be anything to see. How should I be able to know she would react like that? All the dragons so far have been 'natural' in their way of clothing.
Barry turned to the young female who had taken the egg. "Who says my mouth ain't safe enough? Haven't you noticed what I am yet? I tell you haven't heard of body-less armour then...well, anyways, thats what I am. I don't need to move my mouth when I speak." He had to grudgingly admit though, that the egg was much safer in the current location it was in. He rustled the scales on his neck in irritation about the flight comment. "Here we go again. I can't fly, not with these fellas here anyway." He growled, unfolding his razor-edged wings with a loud screech of moving metal.
He glanced at the egg again, slightly concerned. "Well...I was hoping we could try and just keep it at one foster parent. I doubt it would help it feel that much secure to be lugged around from dragon to dragon all the time. Young need stability, they need routine." If I wasn't armour I'd take it in myself. he thought in irritation. It wasn't so much the parenting instincts, but more the fact that HE had found the egg, and he technically saw it as his own. And he was the type who didn't like his possessions being handed round at chance.
He glanced up at the female again. "Not only that, but I doubt we'll just be caring for an egg for long. That nest had been there for a long time, I doubt it'll be months before it hatches. I think its better if we quickly settle with the support we've got, and just make sure its well when it hatches. We can always find a foster parent after that."

Slicer shifted slightly under the massive dragons gaze. "Yes...Theres Envy, Gluttony, and...Lust." He thought for a moment. "So far I haven't seen anyone else."

"Hmmmm. you've done a good job. come with me please." this time alex took off gently, not wanting to hurt his friend. he flew to the south of the group of homonculus, staying low so they couldnt see him. he landed silently in the water, gently gliding into it. with only his eyes protruding from the water he swam slowly around the bend to watch and learn the temperament of the group.

Slicer ducked his head slightly at the majors words. He had always been extremely generous with his comments, at least in the short time Slicer had been in his service. When the massive dragon took off, Slicer stood dumbfounded for a few seconds. "Does he actually expect us to follow?" His brother asked incredulously. "Its worth a try." He said grudgingly.
Somehow, with the combined effort of his younger brother, he managed after several tries to launch himself into the air. He panicked slightly as he began to fall again, flapping his wings at such a high speed that they seemed to be in danger of snapping owing to the loud creaks that emitted from them. After several painful minutes of flapping, he had gained So much height that the parchment in his wings were stretched tightly, the currents of the air keeping him up. He sighed in relief, though as soon as he relaxed he immediately started to sink.
With another bout of panic, he shifted his wings until he caught the current again. Flapping in such height only caused his further descent. After many tries, he gradually got the hang of shifting into another flow of wind, without breaking his balance. It was extremely difficult however, also because he had to adjust his speed to follow the gargantuan dragon ahead. His sleek tail made it out for his tool of steering, though he had to move slowly to avoid simply dropping out of the air.
As they passed the humunculi, he instinctively drew his legs up beneath him protectively. As the major sunk swiftly into the lake, Slicer hovered for a few seconds in shock. He dove towards the massive dragon, dipping as low as he could without actually entering the water, and hissed under his breath. "Major! I would have thought that you out of all people would know that in my condition it isn't possible for me to swim without harming myself." Even though dried blood, and especially dried blood on metal, didn't come off easily in water, it could make a seal fade, and Slicer would by all costs want to avoid that.

Dorochette chuckled at Barry's quite amusing apology. He watched the entire scene in silence but he just had to comment on the armour dragons concern about the egg. "Why don't you just admit you rather keep it yourself." He whistled innocently.

Barry snapped up his head in anger. "Alright then. I WOULD rather keep it myself. But seeing as one, I'm an armour, two, I have no experience whatsoever with kids, and three, if you continue to mock me I'll skin you alive."

"Don't worry I'm sure they'll let you be uncle or godparent of such." Dorochette said, from a safe distance. "And I'm not mocking." He added in defense.

Barry was about to retort with a vicious remark when a sudden sound attracted his attention. He quickly looked at the source of the sound, and was terrified to learn that it was the egg. "Whats wrong with it? Is it dying? You crushed! You killed it!" He yelled in mixed fright and anger, directing it partly to himself and partly to the female holding it.
The sound was indeed coming from the egg, a faint scraping sound, which became louder and then faded at regular intervals, before slowly starting up again.

Dorochette for a moment shared the same fear as the armoured dragon as he thought that the egg might have cracked but unlike Barry he didn't panic and noticed the scrapping sound. "Calm down, it's not broken." He assured Barry as he walked closer to Rose who was holding the egg. "I think it's actually hatching!"

(Dang, let me respond sometimes. >.<)
Roze just stayed silent when Barry and the other spoke, but then she heard the sound too. Something told her that Barry was slightly off-base. She set the egg down and backed away slightly so Barry could watch. She didn't know why, but she could tell, somehow, that the egg was not broken, but was indeed hatching... now she just waited to see what it could be...

((D: we do. It hasn't hatched yet, right?))
Barry was trembling slightly with fevered excitement, and as soon as the female let the egg go he pushed the canine aside to get a better view of the egg. "Hatching? Hatching?! But..." He was about to say 'Isn't it too early?' before he remembered the current stage of decomposition the mother had been in. The egg could have been there for months, maybe years before it was saved. He retreated slightly, ducking his head and curling his tail underneath him in embarrassment.
The egg continued to emit a faint scraping noise, and then as suddenly as it had begun it stopped. Barry arched his back in panic. "What happened? Why'd it stop? Is it dead?!" But the sounds soon started again, the scraping being more like a frenzied scrabbling, and the egg twitched slightly as something shifted on the inside.

Dorochette glared a little annoyed at Barry first before getting closer by the other side as he couldn't contain his curiousity either. He looked at the moving egg which than stopped making Barry panic once more. He would turn into one weird godparent for that baby, later on. "It's probably just having a hard time getting it's egg shell open." He assured the worried amour. "This might take a while...or we could maybe help."

Barry whimpered slightly. "Won't it suffocate? How would we know if it needs help?" He glared angrily at the two females. "You're supposed to be the ones doing something. What now?" The egg was still emitting scratching sounds, and every now and then a particularly violent movement from inside would make it twitch.

"Why would it suffocate, infants don't chock in the woom of their mothers either." Dorochette assured. It was a logic thought. As Barry was yelling at the two female dragons Dorochette gave the crack in the egg a small tap. He waited for a second before doing so again with his tail, helping the crack in the egg, making it easier for the baby dragon to break through.

Barry was too caught up in acting completely off with the two others, that he didn't even register what Doro was doing to the egg. The small crack that had formed split even more, so the scrabbling became louder, and a yellowish substance oozed out from the crack. The egg stopped rocking backwards and forwards for a few seconds, and then begun moving again. A loud chirp could be heard from the inside. (DDAAAW. Please don't kill us Rose, but I don't think we can wait for this lil cutie to come out ))

Dorochette pulled his tail back as he also looked breath-holding at the egg that was slowly starting to hetch more. As the yellowish gu dripped out he frowned, even when it wasn't rotten it still didn't smelled all too good, that was one baby dragon who was in for a bath once he got out.
(I agree. So exciting, hetching time X3)

The egg increased its frenzied rocking bacwards and forwards, the chirps turning into angry screeches as the scrabbling got louder. With a powerful thrust from some very small back legs, the cracked part of the egg bent outwards, a chip being pushed off altogether.

Dorochette looked at the hatching egg curiously. This hadn't quite been what he had expected when looking for his friends.

The small blue striped fragment fell to the ground, as a VERY small claw prised itself out of the gap, groping in midair. Sticky strands of the yolk and a thin transparent membrane stuck to it, but after another few vicious swipes the claw retreated, and the angry screeching subdued to a highpitched whine. Barry had only just realized how far along the egg was, and quickly turned around. "Did you see that? Its hatching! Its actually hatching!" the tone of his voice was split between fevered joy and hysteria.
