(FOR SPARTA! *Warmongs!*)
A variety of background noise sounded through the phone, making Archer raise a brow in confusion. An attack? A drop of sweat formed on his face. It was far too early to be discovered! To his relief, the destructive alchemist finally answered. "I'll be sending Sheska to do some work for me. I'd like you to meet her at the town square and see to it that she gets the job done." He paused, unsure of Zolf's response. He was a loose cannon by nature, and with his new established position in the military, he may considered himself above such minor duties. If he refuses...I'll indulge him. Havoc would be more willing if so. But hopefully, the boredom of his current would mission would remove any chance of that.
Ignoring Sheska usual fit of anxiety, though the smile she gave seemed less...forced perhaps? Frowning, Archer continued. "You can understand why I wouldn't want her to go alone, Kimblee?"

Hawkeye gave a nod of acknowledgment and entered the room, trying to ignore the fact that one of her fellow officers was barely dressed. She sat down at the desk in the hotel room and fixed her hair... making it halfway presentable at the least.
Sheska waited for any order... Town square... She made a mental note, but she remembered very clearly where it was... and what had taken place there not so long ago.

"Yeah...no problem," he answered, barely able to conceal the excitement in his voice. "Of course I know why you don't want her goin' alone. If she didn't get accosted by some alley drunk, she'd get lost in every bookstore and library in Lior. By the way, Frankie....do I still have to wear the dress on this assignment?"
He crossed his fingers, praying Archer wouldn't force him to be a sneaky foot-pad with Sheska dressed in drag. It would be nice to show off to her that he was, indeed, capable of being subtle (and mysterious? a slightly mocking thought interrupted him in his mind) and discreet when it was called for. That would be slightly more difficult and great deal more ridiculous. If anything, he'd draw more attention to the both of them if he tried being subtle and sublime.
As soon as Envy showed up he'd share the idea he had with him...shim...it...whatever, to take care of the Cornello sighting business.
He pulled a loose thread on his boxers which never seemed to end. He had about six feet of loose thread in his fist when he jumped to his feet. "Oh geez! Hawkeye, I'm sorry!" He wrapped the towel around his waist and sat back on the bed.
What a day! Three quarters naked in front of a woman he didn't care about impressing, and likely forced to wear a dress in front of the only one he did care to impress! What would he tell Archer? 'Have Sheska look for the guy in the green dress wearing a carnation lapel, leaning against the street lamp?' He blushed uneasily, and brushed a stray drying hair behind his ear. Rat ears? he thought and shot Barry a slightly annoyed glance. "Thanks heaps, Barry...I now officially hate my 'rat' ears" he hissed and poked his tongue out at him.

Barry hurriedly stepped aside, letting Hawkeye go through. He could vaguely register that Kimblee was talking in the phone again, but all he had attention for was Riza. As she sat down on the chair, he sunk onto the floor beside her, crossing his legs and staring up at her. She's straightening her hair, bless her. She's just as beautiful with it frizzled.
He still didn't quite understand why he felt so attracted to her, for from what he'd heard she was an honest independent woman who worked for the greater good. But for the first time in his life, he actually wanted to forget the fact that he was a killer. He had just the simple urge to please her, to make her smile and laugh. To stop her tears and smooth out those occasional frowns. He sighed inwardly, still gazing up at her.
He turned his head with a sharp clack in irritation, as Kimblee hissed at him. "Imagine I'm making a rude grimace. Good, now that you've got that image in your head, I can easily insult you by saying that your face beats your ears to it." He said icily. He didn't have too much confidence in Kimblee at the moment, and any person that would actually react to such insults was clearly weak-minded.
Barry didn't care about insults, as long as they didn't trigger the disturbing thoughts of his inability to live. Good looks were non-existent to him, he had accepted that with ease years ago.

[Wow! What crawled up Barry's ass and died? xD (a rat? or perhaps a gerbil? XD)]
"Ouch!....Now I really am all torn up inside!..." he replied sarcastically. He scratched his head, wondering what he'd done wrong this time to set the guy off. No matter. He could relate to rapid mood shifts, what with being manic depressive and all. He had a mind to take a pot shot at him about at least having a face to speak of, but considering the current status of their missions, there was no point getting into any pissing contests.
He returned his attention to Archer, hoping he hadn't missed anything important.

((I dunno o.o just think he's in a bad mood. And slightly depressed as usual about the fact that he can't seem to get Hawkeyes affection >D heh.))
Barry sent a heavy glare towards the alchemist. "So sorry to hear. You have my full apology." He knew it probably wasn't the best idea to get all jiggered, and that he should have been grateful. Kimblee had released him, had shown him trust and understanding, and all Barry did was fume. He knew it was wrong. With a sigh he turned to Kimblee again. "I'm...Sorry. Really. I just spew stuff out without thinking." He said quietly. He gazed down into the floor. Why was it so hard for him to feel content? He was free, wasn't he?

Jean let out another puff of smoke as Hawkeye entered the room, raising a hand in greeting before sitting up. He cast a side glance to Kimblee, Yup, still in boxers, then back to the only woman in the room. Her hair was slightly messy, something he didn't see very often. "If you want, you can borrow our bathroom to freshen up?:" He offered noting how she attempted to fix her hair. He also though she might like the momentary abscence of a near nude Kimblee for a moment.
The snide comments, thought it was rather one-sided to be truthful, from one psycho to the other wasn't long lived, thankfully, for he wasn't really in the mood to try and stop them. During his lay down, he'd picked up a few words from the phone conversation, noting that they may be going out soon and was sending his own pleadings to the Alchemist's request of not going in drag.

Riza nodded, giving a soft smile. "Thank you, Second Lieutenant..." she said, making her way into the bathroom. She disliked looking disheveled in public... it made her feel like she wasn't doing her job entirely and it bothered her... especially if she was going to push and pull the Colonel up to the top. She couldn't afford to be any less than the best.

Barry looked up in dissapointment as Riza stood up and went to the bathroom. Don't! You don't have to! You look wonderful as you are! He felt like crying. But he knew it would be out of place. He sent Havoc a burning glare of hatred, that might have been misunderstood as a wish to see the 2nd Lieutenant dead. But he didn't mean it. Not really.
He glanced at bathroom door, still slightly miserable. She didn't even look at me...not one single glance. As though I was air to her. He wished to get the attention of Riza, though so far he had had to resort to vulgarity and agression to achieve that. And for once he felt it wasn't the right way.

[Awww...Barry's new picture looks so cute. Mooning over Hawkeye]
The bastard must be making me sweat it, he thought to himself. Archer still hadn't answered him about whether or not he'd be wearing his costume.
He noted how Barry seemed despondent when Hawkeye closed the bathroom door behind her. Well, he thought, that would explain that. He found it cute that Barry liked her so much, but what about him? No wonder he was so moody.
Sighing in exasperation, he stood to his feet and gave a soft rap on Barrys metal arm. "You hang in there, Buddy," he said, "I have a plan."

((I KNO RITE. I think its an old picture from deviantart, but I have been unable to find it online for some time now. Lucky thing I saved it.))
Barry was still staring at the bathroom door when Kimblee got up and tapped him on the arm. He bristled slightly in indignation, though most of it was embarrassment. "Why you-I-I don't need any help." He muttered grudgingly, shifting slightly away and wrapping his arms protectively around his knees.
I'm not some bloody teenager. If I can't get her attention on my own, thats just too bad. He also had a slight suspicion that Kimblee probably wasn't the best with the affairs of the heart. After all, he seemed to be having the same problems with a certain female that Barry still didn't know the exact name or location of. How would he be able to help?
Once again he felt the urge to kill something in his irritation. The want for murder came less frequently now that he was free, but it still lurked deep in his instincts nonetheless.

Archer shook his head, despite the fact that Kimblee would hardly be able to see the action. "Parading around town wearing a military outfit would be the same as announcing our presence over the town's radio. No, wear casual. Discreet, but nothing suggestive. Blend in." There was something odd about Zolf now. He couldn't quite place his finger on it though. Perhaps the chance to wander about is too good to be true. Kimblee had long been locked up- The idea of walking around town freely, even under orders, may be a gift from god to the man. He made a mental note of allowing him more walks. Archer chuckled at the thought. Dogs did enjoy when their masters let them go on walks.
"Just don't let anyone know why you were dubbed Crimson." Archer explained in the simplest way possible.

The Lieutenant fixed her hair. She wondered what the Colonel would have thought if he saw her hair completely disheveled and her clothes slightly wrinkled. He would've reacted in one of two ways... He would've either laughed, and told her that 'it was about time she loosened up', or he would've stared at her with bulging eyes for a few seconds, and then approached, wondering what was wrong... More likely the first one... she was practically drooling over him in the second option. He'd never fall for her... but she couldn't help but hope that he'd come to his senses one day and figure it out... but she could never know... He was so hard to read sometimes...
When she was finally presentable, she left the bathroom and returned to Havoc's side. "Any further orders?" she asked.

Jean merely blinked at Barry's glare, wondering what he had done and how many hours he had left to live. It wasn't till Kimblee made a suggesting of offering help, did he understand. Oh how he would have liked to have cheered him up, told him he'd win her over eventually, but it was a doubt that hung as heavy as the man's armour. He didn't want to give him hope that would probably be crushed. Jean wasn't blind, not the slightest bit oblivious as to the Lieutenant's feelings for a certain officer. He was, however, quite understanding, as to why he never said anything. He respected the woman and her views and principles, as a colleague and as a friend.
As Hawkeye returned, he merely shrugged at her question, having heard the voice on the other end of the phone say something. Though due to his lack of super hearing, he couldn't quite pick up the words and looked to Kimblee for clarification.

Barry turned his head and watched Riza in rapt attention as she came out, walking across the room and towards the 2nd Lieutenant. He stared at her, drinking in her beauty before quickly looking the other way. He didn't want to make her uncomfortable. He sighed, slowly relaxing his metal limbs, cutting off all control of them, so he sank slightly as his plates settled, and he extinguished the orbs of his eyes. The good thing about not having proper sleep, is that you can shut down on command. He thought sligthly in amusement as he 'switched off'

Riza glanced over, seeing that Kimblee was quite involved with his phone conversation, and she looked over to Barry who seemed to be staring at her. She tried to ignore it, but only gave a slight, yet nervous smile. "Is everything all right?" she asked.

Barry snapped out of his 'sleep' immediately, his eyes flashing so quickly into life that they glowed stronger than usual for a few seconds, before settling to their usual dim light. He glanced at Riza, and his face would probably have been flooded with colour had he been able to blush. "Ahahahaaaa...No. Nothings wrong. Not in the slightest." He chuckled nervously, averting his eyes, scratching the back of his head in a slightly strained manner. He froze as he remembered what she actually had said, and cursed himself for answering so hastily. "Er-I mean-Yes. Everythings fine." He shifted slightly in his cross-legged position, making sure not to have eye-contact with her. He desperately wanted to shut down again, to avoid messing up once more, but he knew it would be rude.

Riza looked at him, slightly puzzled, but she only gave a nod as she brushed a strand of blonde hair out of her eyes, sweeping her bangs to the side. "If you say so..." she said.

Barry couldn't help gazing up, and everything seemed to move in slowmotion as the motion of her moving her hair aside caught his attention. He couldn't...He wasn't able to get her affection, he knew that. But nothing, oh nothing, could stop him from caring for her. She was like a tender desert rose, like the glistening gleam of the blood of innocents. The sun that filtered through the dusty windows caught the tiny specks of dust in her hair like a glittering array of suns, and her stern brown eyes could have made him crawl like a submitting dog for her if she had wanted to make him. She held the frail remains of his soul in an irontight grasp, and she had no idea.

((Do you mind if Roy joins? I think it'll make the story more interesting. And I like your sappy romantic stuff... it's cute! ^^ ))
She caught him staring again, but she didn't reply. She only wondered how the Colonel was doing... he had paperwork to do... It was starting to become a habit of hers to worry about him... then again, she never stopped worrying about him... It was because she... well... yeah...
