“Morning lovely” Greed mumbled softly, running the tip of his tongue on the alchemy symbol on Marta’s neck. She held back a moan, trying to ignore the slight tingling in her spine. Thankfully, she was assisted in her battle by the sound of her daughter crying.
She shrugged a little to bump him off her, and then pulled herself into a sitting position, lifting Blair out of the makeshift bed Nell had made.
It was actually just a crate with a comforter stuffed inside, more fitted for a puppy that wasn’t housebroken then a newborn infant. Oh well, the baby didn’t seem to care, so whatever.
“You mind if I take this one?” the Homunculus asked, motioning to the breast that his daughter wasn’t nursing from.
Marta didn’t even bother to look at him as she gave her answer, shrugging before actually about her returning to the action so soon after giving birth. Marta had ignored his warnings, claiming that she would be fine. After all, she wouldn’t be doing much at first, just saying anything. “Do whatever you want, but I’d watch myself if I were you. I know first hand how hard this girl can kick”.
Greed seemed to consider this, deciding that it wasn’t worth getting a foot in the face. After all, being kicked in the face by a baby who is roughly a tenth of your size is pretty damn embarrassing.
Marta finished nursing Blair, then placed her in Greed’s arms, telling him to keep an eye on her while she took a shower.
She wanted to go out- after being stuck in the Nest for months, she had probably gotten rusty. She needed to make sure she could still access her skills, both alchemy-induced and natural. Greed had seemed a little concerned, though he had tried to hide it, a few heists. Nothing too difficult. Besides, once she had her mind completely set on something, it was impossible to get her to forget it, unless you had a damned good reason. Still, Greed was going with her, his excuse being he didn’t want to loose one of his best fighters. Though, most everyone knew that wasn’t the main reason for his actions.
“Gaaaaaaah?”
A small, almost mumbled sounding coming from the formerly silent mass in his arms brought Greed’s attention back to now.
“And what do you want?” he asked, glancing down at the baby girl. However, by the time he looked down, she was silent once again, her eyes closed. The homunculus smirked slightly. He flicked her forehead with the tips of his fingers, saying, “You’re a little shit, you know that, kid?”
Blair, of course, didn’t answer him. Rather she just yawned, sucking on her fist and rolling over slightly in his arms.
Greed rolled his eyes, muttering something about how it was just his luck that he got such a brat for a daughter. The door opened then, revealing Marta, who was wearing a towel around her torso, covering her breasts and stomach.
“I forgot to take a shirt with me” she said, stepping into the room and shutting the door behind her.
The moment she was in the room, Blair began to squirm around reaching towards her mother.
The Ultimate shield sighed slightly. What the hell was up with this kid? She completely ignores him, and then goes batshit insane when Marta comes into the room.
Whatever, it really didn’t matter at this point. Besides, he was a bit distracted at the moment.
Greed’s lips turned up a little as he watched Marta pull a dark colored tang top over her head. The pregnancy had really agreed with her, in his opinion. Yes, she still had a bit of extra weight around her stomach, but it wasn’t that noticeable. Plus, that wasn’t the only part of her body that was larger. Her breasts had swollen slightly, something that Greed was rather thankful for. Not that he would ever say that to her out loud. Well, maybe if he was holding Blair….No, he had the feeling he’d feel kind of guilty for using his newborn daughter as a meat-shield.
“Do you really have to look at me like I’m going to sleep with you?” Marta asked, a tinge of red on her cheeks, even though her voice itself showed a great deal of annoyance.
The homunculus’s eyebrows rose slightly in mild surprise. He hadn’t expected her to comment on his watching. But, he quickly recovered from that brief shock.
“What?” he questioned, the smirk returning to his face. “You telling me you didn’t enjoy it?”
It was banter, no true anger or disdain evident in his voice. She knew this, and decided to play along with him.
The corners of her own mouth turned up in a mirror of his sharp-toothed smirk. “Not at all” she answered, walking towards him. “I’m just still a little tired due to the end result of our last night together”.
She then scooped Blair out of his arms, receiving a squeal of delight from the three-and-a-half pound baby.
Without another word, Marta exited the room, heading towards the bar. Greed followed suit, his fists stuffed into his pockets, like he was pretending he didn’t care.
The bar was nearly empty, not that surprising seeing as the sun hadn’t even rose yet. The only “people” in the room when they came in were Law, Dorochette, Nell, Eliza, Mort, and Dirt, who had apparently just woken up, based on the fact that he was rubbing his eyes like crazy.
Blair was excited to see the faces, some new and some old. Her eyes were darting around more than a rabbit on speed and she was flailing her arms around like bees were swarming around her. A small humming-like sound from the newborn caught the attention of Nell.
“Hello, baby” she cooed, taking Blair out of Marta’s arms and tickling her under the chin.
Marta sighed slightly. She swore if given the chance, Nell would run away with Blair. Eliza would go along, partly because she really was Nell’s lackey, and partly because she was just as baby-crazy as the salamander.
Mort turned to her and smirked before saying, “So…Nelly and ‘Liza were telling the truth?”. He grimaced then, reaching into his pockets and pulling out some money, which he handed over to Nell and Eliza. Obviously there had been some form of bet between the three of them. Exactly what the conditions were, Marta was sure she didn’t want to know. Mort then took the baby from Nell’s arms and into his own. It was obvious he had never held a baby before in his life. He had his hands wrapped around her waist only, allowing her upper body to flop around like she was a rag doll. After looking the infant over for several minutes, the rat finally spoke up. “Hmmm, kinda small, but not too bad. You’d probably get good money for h-“.
He never got to finish that statement, for at that moment Blair was ripped out of his hands by Dirt, and Mort himself was whacked in the head by Greed.
Feeling around his head, Mort was relieved to find that there was no blood, though the area was throbbing. He mumbled an apology, then slowly pulled himself to his feet before sitting on the sofa.
Meanwhile, Blair had begun making strange noises. She was crying, no doubt about that, but it was different from the wails she normally made. These wails sounded like a mix between regular crying and hissing, giving them a somewhat chilling factor.
“What’s the matter with her?” Mort asked, covering his ears and wincing.
“I have no idea” Marta told him, taking her daughter away from Dirt. The girl continued to cry, and nobody could figure out why.
Suddenly Dirt piped up. “I think I know what’s wrong” he said, nodding slowly before turning to face Law. He gave orders to the ox-chimera to try and touch Blair, which he obeyed for whatever reason.
The giant of a man tried to rub the top of the newborn’s head, but before he could get close enough, she went ballistic. Not only did her weird cry/hissing become louder, but she became completely clenched up and her eyes opened so wide, they appeared to be bulging.
Well, that solved the mystery. Apparently Blair was afraid of Law. No, forget afraid, the girl was completely terrified.
Marta sighed slightly.
“Here” she said, handing Blair back to Dirt, “You’re the only person that I can really trust to take care of her while I’m gone”.
That was more or less true- Eliza and Nell would smother the poor girl if she was left in their care; Mort had suggested selling her on the black market; Dorochette would be too busy keeping an eye on the trio; And she had a freakin’ panic attack whenever Law got near her. So, of course, the only logical option left was the eight-year-old.
“Let’s go. I want to get out of here before all the whores come in and try to make you stay” Marta said, turning to Greed who smirked in return. The Homunculus shrugged as the snake chimera made her way out of the bar, smirking and shaking his head slightly as he followed her outside.

I also feel bad for Blair. In my Author's Notes I gave her telepathy to communicate with the readers, and this is what she said/thought:
Blair: ///Mommy? Daddy?///
