Silence filled the empty streets of Dublith. Considering how early in the morning it was, this was hardly surprising, but something about it seemed horribly unnatural. This was the kind of silence that held secrets best left unheard by the ears of men, born from the anguish of tormented souls. It held stories of doom and despair, written in the blood of the innocents that fell victim to the machinations of the devil herself. Those foolish enough to enter its domain did not dare speak a word, the gravity of it all forcing them to join it mute chorus. Although they knew not of the horrible secrets it held, their hearts could feel the unspeakable pain of those whose stories it contained.
Indeed, this was no ordinary silence. This was the calm before the storm, waiting to add yet another bloody tale to its pages. And the author remained in the darkness, smiling sinisterly as her play unfolded.
Fuhrer Bradley stood against the wall across from the entrance of the bar, his body completely still. His eyes were hidden beneath his military cap, and his lips were curved into a grave frown. He was one of the few not bothered by the silence, since he had grown accustomed to it over the years. This was the silence that always preceded the atrocities he committed in the name of his master, the devil whose vanity and ambition ended the lives of countless men. Another chapter was about to be added to her epic of madness, and as always he would be the hero of the piece.
He cast a glance over his shoulder, taking note of the countless snipers positioned on the rooftops surrounding the Devil's Nest. Lowering his gaze, he then ran his eyes over the sea of heavily armed soldiers around the building. Accompanying him were several of his most skilled squadrons, but he did not intend on using all of them. They were merely there to intimidate the enemy, and to give their lives for his master if the situation called for it. He and his new brothers and sisters were more than capable of handling the situation. Soon his master would once again have the chimera children, and he would have the satisfaction of running her enemies through with his ceremonial blade.
Meanwhile, a chimera awoke from his slumber on a couch within the nest. Seeing shadowy figures outside the window, he rose to his feet and walked over, widening his eyes when he recognized them. "Hey, boss!" he yelled frantically, looking over his shoulder. "Erm... We have co--"
A bullet shot through the window then, shattering the glass and going right between his eyes. He fell to the ground dead, his story added to the silence.
Fuhrer Bradley smiled when he saw the chimera fall to the ground. Since he led an evacuation of the city during the night, they would be able to shed as much blood as they wanted without raising any eyebrows. Glancing over at a private standing near a tent to his right, he gave him a curt not. The private took the signal and grabbed a megaphone from a nearby table, then walked over and handed to his superior. Bowing his head respectfully, he quickly retreated back to the makeshift base.
Raising the megaphone to his lips, he began to speak with firm authority: "Listen well, all of you. Your base is surrounded by several hundred of my men, all of whom are heavily armed and highly experienced. Should you decide to resist me, you will be slaughtered without mercy. The terms of your surrender are as follows: return the chimera children and hand over the homunculus named Envy. You have ten minutes to comply."

Greed snarled slightly at the sound of Pride's voice. It wasn't as though he wasn't expecting this, but no matter. He would handle it. He turned to the chimeras and humans in the room and smirked slightly. "No worries. I'll take care of it" he said heading up the stairs and outside. There he stood in front of Pride, waiting for him to speak.

Dorochette had for once been allowed to have the bliss of sleeping in. The streets of Dulpith had been unusualy quite and the sharp hearing chimera had been more than satisfied to sleep on. However it was only a temporary moment of blissful sleep as eventually the nagging feeling of something being wrong won the best of him and he got up and went to the bar. It didn't take a genuis to figure out anything from there on. A fellow chimera dead on the ground and the nice promise of soonly being slaughtered said enough. Dorochette slightly tightened his grip on his sword as he watched Greed go up to meet the fuhrer. For a second Dorochette considered maybe convincing an evacuation but they didn't knew anything yet so it was too soon for that. Instead he started walking through the other chimera's looking for Martel.

Pride greeted his sibling with a friendly smile. "You've decided to confront me yourself, have you? How admirable. Now are you going to do something foolish that will force me to slaughter your allies, or are you going to be a good boy and hand them over?"

"Well, you know, I can't give you Envy, even if I wanted to" the greedy one said casually. He wasn't going to even act worried. All that would do is give Pride some sick satisfaction.
-------------
Martel was in the living quarters of the Devil's Nest, checking to see if her ability to extend her arms had returned. Hearing the Fuhrer's voice, she knew there'd be trouble and being able to actually fight would be a necessity. Thankfully, she could extend her arms, though she was still a little stiff from not using the ability for several days with pain.

Pride responded with a mocking frown. "Is that so? What a shame. Then it looks like I'll have to keep one of your friends as a guest until you can hand him over. Perhaps your darling Martel would like to pay me a visit? We've become quite good friends, you know."
Most of the soldiers were glaring at the homunculus, their rifles aimed directly at his skull. Their bullets would do little good, of course, but they did not know that. At least they would serve as a decent distraction if a fight ended up breaking out between the two powerful homunculi. Meanwhile, the soldiers stationed near the tent began to talk amongst themselves.
A strange figure was standing among the soldiers at the tent, dressed in clothing one would not expect to find on a soldier of the military. It was a man dressed in a concealing brown robe with a matching mask. His outfit was lined with gold, and his eyes shone with curiosity. Listening to one of the soldiers speak, he shook his head and glanced behind him.

Greed growled slightly when Pride mentioned Martel. No doubt whatever he wanted her for was nothing good. "Sorry" he said, sounding mockingly sympathetic. "But she's a little busy with something now". Well, that was the truth----Martel was keeping herself busy in order to stay alert.

Pride gave him a friendly smile. "I'm sure she can find some time to spend with an old friend. Now that we have that little matter taken care of, I suggest you bring Martel and the twins outside. Time is of the essence."
Seeing another chimera watching them through a window, a soldier aimed his sniper rifle at him and fired, shattering the glass and blowing his head right off. Snickering, he reloaded and aimed it at Greed, ready to shoot him if he made a move against the Fuhrer.
Meanwhile, the figure in the brown cloak peeked into the tent for a few moments, then turned back to the soldiers and whispered something to them.

"Sorry, but I'm afraid I can't do that" Greed said. He was trying to remain calm, but his chimeras being slaughtered left and right wasn't helping. The tips of his fingers were now covered by dark shield. He heard a whisper and turned to see a cloaked figure talking to the soliders. About what, he had no idea.

"You don't seem to understand your situation. One word from my lips can bring your entire world crashing down around you. Everything you've worked so hard to accomplish since your escape will be no more, and you will once again be all alone in this world. Do I make myself perfectly clear?
Pride cast a quick glance at the robed figure who was speaking with his soldiers. Unlike his sibling, he knew exactly what was going on, but decided to keep it to himself. He turned back to Greed, the playful gleam in his visible eye now gone, showing that he was growing annoyed with the greedy homunculus. His patience was wearing thin, and if he did not start cooperating soon, there would be hell to pay.
"Greed, I'm not going to say this again: hand over Martel and the children."
The cloaked man picked up a notebook from the desk and began flipping through the pages. Eventually he stopped and started taking down notes, his eyes fixed on Greed.

The ultimate shield frowned for a brief second before returning to the smirk. The sound of crying from within the Nest only made the twisted grin larger.
-----------
Upstairs, Martel was listening intently to the coversation between Greed and Pride. Or, at least, she was listening to all she could hear. It wasn't much, but she knew what the bastard wanted. After all, why else would he even still be at the Devil's Nest once Greed said Envy was gone?
Damn, she wanted to fight, to kill those bastard soldiers. But, that would just mean leaving her offspring alone for the taking, and she couldn't do that. Soon as she found someone to keep an eye on Rico and Ariana, however, soldiers would die by her hand. She'd make sure of that.

Dorochette let out an annoyed growl. "For the last time just stay away from the windows you idiots!" He barked at the other chimera's who couldn't contain their curiousity. As the other hybrids started stepping back a bit Dorochette made his way to the back rooms before he spotted Martel and walking straight to her. "How's the stretching coming?"

Pride quirked a brow at the homunculus, moving his hand to the sheath of his sword. "I'm waiting. Either bring them to me this second, or I'll send for them myself."
The researcher perked up when he saw the twisted smile on his face. He scribbed down notes as quickly as he could, nodding his head in approval. Turning a page in his book, he drew a quick diagram, then resumed with his notes.

"Fine" Martel said with a slight smile as she saw Dorochet. "But" she continued, getting off her bed, "I still need to see how it goes with strangling someone from a few feet away". She glanced at the twins, who were still crying softly, then looked back to Dorochet. "You let anyone touch them, and you know what I'll do" she warned in a venomous tone as she headed down to the next level of the Nest.
-------------
Greed continued to smirk, placing one of his hands behind his back. As he did so, he covered the rest of his arm in shield. "Now, why do you have to be so demanding?" he asked in an almost hurt voice. It was a joke, to him, a way to bait Pride.

Pride narrowed an eye when he saw him place his arm behind his back, and braced himself for an attack. Refusing to play his game, he cast a glance at the cloaked figure who was taking notes, his eye shining dangerously.
"Send in the primary attack squad. Their orders are to retrieve the children and their mother. If anyone interferes, they are to eliminate them with extreme prejudice."
The researcher nodded and took down a few more notes. Once he finished, he walked over to the soldiers and began talking with them again.

"No you're not!" Dorochette said immidiatly as he caught up with Martel and pulled her back down. He was after all still stronger than her when it came to physical streght so he effortlessly picked her up and put her back down by the bed. "You are staying right here Martel. If you want no-one to touch them then you will look over them yourself." The usual so easy going chimera didn't had the slightest hint of a smile this time as he walked back to the stairs. "You are staying here."

Martel hissed angrily, sounding more like a serpent than she'd like to admit. She then extended her arm as far as it could go, wrapping it around Dorochet's neck. It wasn't tight enough to harm him, but she would tighten it if need be. Rubbery arm still around her comrade's neck, she walked towards him. "You know nothing will come between me and something like this" she said is a dangerously soft tone, "Don't you want those bastards to pay for what they've done to us?"

After the researcher gave the word, about fifty soldiers charged the bar at full speed. One kicked the door right off its hinges and they all stormed in after that, opening fire on whoever they saw. Thankfully most of the chimeras had either retreated to the second floor or the basement, but those still in the main room met a quick and bloody end.
The researcher spoke to another soldier, who then went to another squad to deliver his message. The squad broke into two groups and each headed in a different direction, intending to attack the bar from behind.
"Your arrogance has cost you dearly, my friend," Pride smirked at the traitor.
Meanwhile, the researcher resumed taking notes.

Dorochette had to say that he was truely surprised when Martel wrapped her arms around his neck. He had expected hitting, cursing insults and such but not quite this! Dorochette managed to turn enough in her gripp to face her as he glared at her pissed to say the least. "Than you are foolish and inconsiderant." He growled at her. "I don't give a fuck about those bastards uptairs what I do give about the people here, you, your babies." He went on as he grabbed her hands trying to peal her arms away from his neck. "What the hell is wrong with you Martel!" He barked at her as he couldn't help himself from bairing his fangs at her. If she wanted to play it like this than fine. "Your first and only concern should be your babies and not some vain revenge attempt that you know well enough you make no chance and be dead before you could lay a finger on Bradley." He said harshly. "You should protect your children and not cause unneeded danger. Let Greed handle this!"

"I am thinking about them" Martel hissed when Dorochet brought up her children. She knew the only way to keep them even moderately safe would be to get rid of Bradley once and for all. Otherwise hed' just keep coming back for them.
---------------------
"And why don't you show your little soldiers exactly what you are?" Greed asked, his tone oddly serious. He wasn't kidding now----only pissed that his men were being slaughtered. He covered his other arm from fingertip to shoulder in shield, ready to attack as needed.
