[Sorry 'bout that, Barry... meant to go edit it later, but went out and then forgot.]
Sarai
She laughed heartily at that remark, "How silly! You would think those people were owned by clothes designers, and not just customers." she giggled, "And then they walk about wearing their names so everyone knows who their master is."
Still giggling, she added, "And if they don't wear the clothes, the people could tell who own them by smell."
They finally reached the large stone steps of the building. She wondered if anyone was attending the place. She tried a door, and the hinges squeaked loudly. They walked inside and immediately her nose was filled with the scent of frankincense.
The walked slowly up the main hallway, looking at door labels. Finally she found something. A door labeled Rav. Berg. Timidly, she walked in to see an old man dressed in ordinary street clothes. She stood in the doorway and he motioned them forward with his finger. "Please, sit." he asked, returning to his papers.

Smiled as she noticed Kimbley setting out the towels for them to sit on. "Oh... wow... I didn't even think of that..." she giggled. She sat down on the towel he provided, and watched him shuffle out the cards. She noticed his form was the same as an old player she had played with once. "I take it you've done this before?" she asked him. As he dealt, she took each card in her hand. She had a 7 of clubs, 2 of diamonds, 6 of hearts, Ace of spades and a 4 of clubs. Her face showed confusion at the hand she had, as if she didn't like it too much... She sighed, figured she would discard the two of diamonds, four of clubs and the ace of spades... if she made it past bidding. "So... who first?"

Barry laughed. "Well, it seems most people nowadays seem to actually prefer having their personality undermined by bein turned into walking advertisements. Its crazy."
As they entered the building, he looked around nervously. He wasn't a religious person himself, but there was something about the place that inspired awe and respect. He followed her closely.

"Oh!...we forgot to ante up." he said, "Before cards are dealt you always put an amount in the pot to open." He tossed a nickel in the center.
Afterward he dealt himself King of Spades, two of hearts, two of clubs, 9 of clubs and Jack of diamonds. What a pile of shit! Oh well, it was just openers and he had a low pair.
"Okay darlin," he instructed. You make a bid on the first hand. Since I deal, you bet first. You can 'check', which means you pass betting to the next person. You can do that as long as the person who bets before you hasn't made a bet. If the person before you bets, you have to 'see' their bet, which means you put the same amount they did, or you can raise it. Then you put their amount plus whatever you raise. Everyone else after you has to match your bet or fold." Wow, that was a mouthful! He hoped he hadn't flooded her with too much information at one time.
"So..you gonna bet or check, sugar?"
[you know, we should each use a real deck of cards and deal a hand each other cant see!]
Sarai
She approached the Rabbi and gave a slight bow and greeting, "Shalom." She hoped she'd got it right. "My name is Sarai, I called earlier about getting help with clothes. I had to leave everything and the clothes I now wear..." she blushed and indicated Barry, "belong to my friend, Barry."
Rav. Berg got to his feet and returned her greeting, and also greeted Barry the same way then offered his hand to shake, "Well..it's good to see that there are still men in the world willing to look after a lady in need." he smiled warmly.

Barry smiled nervously, and when the man bowed to him he wondered whether he should do the same. Strictly speaking he didn't have to, so he merely answered the bow with a polite nod, then grasping the man's hand in greeting.
He smiled again, not quite sure how to respond. "Well...Anything to help." His voice trailed off slightly and he scratched the back of his neck tensely, waiting for Sarai to go on.

Sarai
"Rabbi.. I was wondering..have you seen many books like this?" she slowly removed the antique bible and held it out for him to see.
He glanced at the cover and lowered his glasses. He gasped in surprise and looked at her in astonishment. "May I?" he asked.
She hesitantly handed it over and he opened it carefully, flipping to the copyright page. There was no copyright, of course, being so old. But it was unmistakably an original Tyndale version. "I must certainly say...I have never seen one so well preserved as this one! Family heirloom?"
She nodded and watched as he flipped through it with painstaking care. "You mean you've seen other bibles?" She was surprised to hear this. Bibles were an extreme rarity on the other side of the gate.
He handed the old bible back to her and laughed, "Of course, dear! It's the largest best seller in the world! The world is fairly flooded with bibles!"
This information stunned her. How could a world so full of holy books have so many irreverent and godless people?
She lowered her voice confidentially and continued, "Rabbi... do you know of something called the Grand Arcanum? I noticed in the phone book that you have a Kabbalah center here. I'd be very interested in investigating what it offers."
"I'd be happy to take you there. It's closed now and you'll need an appointment. We have quite an impressive library and a full set of the Zohar... " he smiled, continuing. "Of course I know what the Grand Arcanum is, it's one of the foundational studies in Kabbalah."
After giving her his business card he walked to the door, motioning them to follow, "Come..come!" he invited, "We'll get clothes fit for a proper lady. Just this way please."
She glanced at Barry, smiling in excitement. "I'm getting clothes and answers! How exciting!"

He listened in silence to their chatter, that book really seemed to be important. Why though, he couldn't tell. Naturally she was an Ishbalan, but he would have thought a book of a different religion might just have angered her, not excited her.
He smiled uncertainly. "Yeah...cool." He still wasn't quite sure why the book was so important. But he followed anyhow.

{Maybe so, but you know how long you need to keep that hand? XD Also, I assumed we were playing 5-card draw. Sorry if I'm wrong.}
Roze glanced at the man as he explained how to play. Blushing, she tossed a nickel in as well, following his lead. She looked at her hand and made a sort of pouty face. She rearranged the cards to hold the six of clubs and seven of hearts first, with the other three placed to the left. "Um... okay... let's see... I put in a quarter?" she asked questioningly as she put in a quarter from her stack. It might be a little higher, but this is her first hand, neh? She looked to the male, wondering what he would do...

He watched carefully as she arranged her cards. She shuffled on of them next to another. She looked displeased, but then threw in a quarter. Kinda pricey for a shit hand..or wait! She was bluffing! He grinned knowingly at her and chuckled. She could also be working on an inside pair...he'd have to wait and see how many she discarded.
"Alright, little lady. I'll see your quarter." he said, tossing one in. "How many cards you need?" he asked, now that it was time to discard. He opened one of the bottles of Corona and handed it to her. He opened his own and tossed the cap into his pile of chips.
Sarai
[Don't worry, Barry. I'm just gonna have her grab the clothes. Then they can go back. No point dragging Barry through a bunch of stuff he wont understand.]
When they reached the outreach center, the Rabbi took them to a large room with clothes sorted by mens', womens', and kids. He shook hands with her and Barry and excused himself. "I regret I have a full schedule to attend to. I'd love to chat more with you young lady...and your young fellow, but I---" he suddenly noticed her eyes and leaned forward slightly, examining them. His face went pale and he stood silent for a moment. Finally, he spoke. "If I were to say, 'Brother...brother of mine, out of Egypt. Custodian of the secret knowlege, good and faithful servant. What news from the rising of the seventh sun?'....what...what would you say?"
Her face also turned pale and her mouth opened..."I would say..." she answered in a shocked monotone, " 'Out of Egypt you called and I came. I wont forsake the old ways. I am my brothers keeper and I watch for the seventh firstborn of the seven firstborn'....how do you know of this?" It stunned her that she had found a member of this tribe. A tribe lost in the memory of the other side of the worlds torn by the gate.
"We have much to discuss... please, call soon. Be safe, offspring of Ishmael, son of Abraham." he hurried away, leaving her stunned...
She waved weakly. "Be safe... offspring of Jacob, son of Isaac, son of Abraham."
After he left, she sifted through the clothes, barely able to concentrate on what she was doing. After having filled two large paper bags, she was set. "I'm sorry, Barry. This must be terribly boring..and confusing. But I am ready to go now." she smiled warmly. "Thank you...for coming with me."

[Mind if Roze wins the round after this?]
Roze looked to the man, shaking her head. She didn't know if the bid was pricey or not, but he seemed to be smiling like he thought she was up to something. She nodded, and took the bottle of beer from him, taking off the cap as he did and placing in the chip pile. "Umm... what happens to the winner? And how much are the caps going to be worth... if we're playing with them, that is...?" She only asked because she knew that this money wasn't theirs, so technically, they couldn't win money. She took all but the six of clubs and seven of hearts and threw them into the middle. However, she got a eight of hearts, nine of hearts and a queen of hearts. At the view of her hand, she looked crestfallen. "Um.. I pass... That is... if I go first..." she said.

(OOC: Hoo boy, I need to post more! Starting to fall behind. XD)
Dante continued sipping her coffee for a few moments, then sighed and rose from her seat. The noise her housemates were making was beginning to annoy her. Smoothing out her dress, she headed out the back door and onto the porch. She took a seat on her usual chair and crossed her legs, smiling as she looked over her garden. Her flowers were coming in nicely, and the shrubs that Barry destroyed a long time ago had completely recovered.
"What a nightmarish day...." she hummed to herself, bringing her mug to her lips.
Indeed, it was very nightmarish. Not only had her former partner absconded with a fragment of her Philosopher's Stone, but the son of her friend was gravely injured, as well. To make things worse, thinking about the stone brought something else to her mind. She still had several fragments hidden in the house, the locations of which only she knew about. Crossing into this world stopped the decay of her bodies for some reason, so she no longer had to worry about that. She could continue to transfer her soul for many more years.
She frowned and rested her eyes on the mug. For the first time in centuries, she had a husband that she was genuinely in love with and a child that was dear to her heart. She was not the monster that she once was, thanks entirely to their love and support. Still, she was not ready to end her legacy just yet. Asking Scar to jump with her was out of the question, since she all ready knew what his answer would be; and she would never think of getting Dahlia involved with her addiction to immortality. The last thing she wanted was to turn her daughter into the selfish monster that she had once been.
"It's settled, then," she mumbled to herself quietly so that no one else could hear. "They will never learn about the fragments. Once my time finally comes, I will transfer again."
-----------------------------------------------------------
Dahlia plopped down next to her friend and watched as she played poker. "This game is boring..." she mumbled. "Are there any bunnies or puppies in it?"
-------------------------------------------------------------
Bob laughed. "I wouldn't worry about that. If he even thinks of it, I'm sure Marcelle would kick his butt into next week. She's taken a liking to your boy, you know."

"No....but if you want, go in the rec room and watch this" Arden said, handing Dahlia a DVD. Realizing that Dahlia would want to know what what on the disk. "It's a movie about bunnies. And not the ones that Niki looks at".
-----------------------------
Martel smirked slightly at Bob's words, though it was somewhat sarcastic. "He's here so often, I'm surprised he doesn't think the people in the hospital are family" she muttered. Unfortunately, that was quite true----Nikolai had been to the hospital for various reasons more than a dozen times by now.

[lolz. You mean it's not a version of Nikolai's 'under the couch' bunnies? xD]
Zolf
Well, perhaps he'd been wrong. From the looks of it, she'd been working on an outside straight, but she passed the bet onto him. He didn't want her to fold, so he checked as well.
Plus, he was gonna teach her a little lesson. He discarded his high card, the king of spades and his two of clubs, eliminating his high card and one of his twos. He picked up two cards. The 8 of spades and the 10 of diamonds. Good...just the shit hand he was going for.
"Okay, now you bet or check again based on your new hand." he kept his face neutral in an effort to not give himself away or scare into folding her hand. He took a sip from his beer.
[sure, Roze can win the next hand. ^__^]

(Sure, I'll have Dante pay her a little visit. Where is she?)
Dahlia smiled brightly when her friend handed her the movie. She had no idea what Nikolai's bunnies were like, but she didn't waste any time thinking about that. "Thankies!" she said, giving Arden a quick hug before scampering off to watch it.
-----------------------------------------
Bob chuckled and took a seat on a nearby chair. "Well, let's just hope that he won't be attending another reunion any time soon..."
Pausing, he glanced down the hallway. "I wonder what's taking them? He's been in there an awfully long time."

"Why do I hang out with her again?" Arden muttered to herself before turning back to the screen.
----------------------
When Officer Bob glanced at the hallway, Martel did the same. "I wouldn't be too worried about it" she told him, almost like she was trying to pacify the man. "They already said that Nikolai was fine....unless you're talking about someone else".

Sorry, Kimblee. Didn't see your post until now. And to Dante: She's in the backyard by the grill, apparently talking to deadened soldiers- AKA, Jean and his buddy. XD))
Roze:
Roze glanced at what Kimblee had thrown away; two cards only... that couldn't be good... She nodded at his remark. She wasn't completely dumb to this; she had seen it played a few times before. "Umm.. can I pass, please...?" she asked him, wondering if that was allowed on the second turn. She hadn't seen anyone do it in the time she watched, so she had gotten the idea that it wasn't allowed. She also wondered if she was the first player; since she had gotten to go first at the first hand, she figured she would now, but that was speculation...

"Okay, let's try and keep you in the game then." he said, "I'm betting a quarter." he smiled and tossed his quarter in. At this point she would either fold or call his bet. Either way would work.
He took a swig off his bottle of beer, "So... do you play poker in the linen closet often?" He actually felt goofy sitting in a closet with her playing cards. He downed his beer and set it on the ground sideways, giving it a spin. "Now this is more along the lines of a closet game," he said as it spun. It stopped pointing at him and he turned it around to face her, chuckling. "If you're in middle school anyhow." He tipped her a playful wink.
He propped his elbow on his knee and rest his head on his palm, looking at her sort of dreamy. "You know...I bet you'd have a blast in Las Vegas." he said, "Bright lights...shows...good food. And Black Jack tables." he added with a laugh. "You could be my lady luck. You'd be gorgeous in a strapless gown..or one with them thin spaghetti straps. Why every man at the table would be so busy looking at you, I'd clean them out!"
