Should you ever meet someone who personally knows this mysterious man, they will quickly tell you he is a complete monster. There is nothing positive to say about this awful individual. A cruel and remorseless man, he will not hesitate to commit the most heinous atrocities if he can get something from it. He believes things like morality are unimportant to men of vision like himself, so needless to say he never takes it into account when performing his disgusting experiments. His research is so important to him that he has no problem with sacrificing the lives of innocence to further it.
Despite being irredeemably evil, he is a surprisingly personable man. He is respectful and polite to even his most vicious enemies, but whatever kindness he shows them is artificial. While he might seem like a friendly man at times, he is still a ruthless monster on the inside. Usually his compliments are sarcastic or laced with hidden malice, but this is often difficult to pick up on. When around people that can be useful to him, he turns into a sycophant and butters them up until he gets what he wants.
Nikanoru considers himself an intellectual and spends most of his time researching or conducting experiments. Being the scholarly man that he is, it is hardly surprising that he is not much of a fighter. He loathes combat and does whatever he can to avoid it. When challenged to a fight, he uses every excuse in the book to weasel his way out of it. Even though he claims to have moral objections to violence, this is a blatant lie. In truth he is nothing more than a coward that cannot take what he dishes out.
He lacks any loyalty to his allies and will betray them without a second thought. Should something else grab his attention, he will not hesitate to abandon his friends and pursue it. Needless to say he is not exactly a trustworthy person. Over the years he has manipulated many supposed allies and used them as pawns to achieve his goals. Those that were lucky enough to survive his scheming have become his enemies and seek vengeance against him. Not surprisingly, he feels no remorse for manipulating those who were foolish enough to place their trust in someone like him. He is only concerned about himself, and if he has to betray a few allies to get what he wants, then so be it.
While he is often a serious and formal man, he occasionally shows a dark sense of humor. Finding amusement in all things macabre, he sometimes cracks jokes that land him in deep trouble. Because he dislikes combat he tries his hardest to keep his mouth shut, but every now and then a snarky comment will slip through. Normally he will only do this around people incapable of harming him, or when he has people around to protect him. He would never think of insulting someone of higher status than he is, except if they are not around to hear him say anything.
Nikanoru exhibits a misanthropic view of the world, seeing other people as nothing more than insects that exist for his personal benefit. As a rule of thumb, he presumes people are ignorant and incompetent until they can prove otherwise. He has no respect for the lives of others, which is obvious from how willing he is to ruin lives and torture innocent people for his personal gain. Pessimistic and cynical, he laughs at the notion of altruism and believes that, deep down, everyone is only looking out for number one. This attitude of his has likely resulted from him being in the political arena for most of his life.
Interestingly, it is hard to get an emotional response out of him. Even when his life is threatened he remains calm and collected, as he believes his death would be more of a loss for the universe than for himself. He holds nothing close to his heart and cannot empathize with others, making it impossible to move him to tears. Utterly sociopathic, he fears no man and always seems to be hiding something.
Physical Description:
Years of physical inactivity has left him weak and emaciated. His body is fragile and cannot withstand much damage, which is one of the main reasons he avoids combat. A fairly tall man, he stands at over six feet. His height and skeletal build give him a rather frightening appearance.
Nikanoru is a fairly handsome man, which hardly reflects how he is on the inside. His facial features are sharp and attractive, and his nose is a little on the long side. He has dark brown eyes that seem to lack any light whatsoever, perfectly reflecting how soulless he truly is. They are surrounded by dark crimson eye shadow that he wears for purely aesthetic purposes. His skin is almost chalk white and is free of any blemishes. Likewise, his hands are in remarkably good condition, showing that he has done absolutely no manual labor in his entire life.
His wardrobe is very dark and formal, just like his personality. He is always seen wearing a thin, form-fitting black robe with a high collar. The sleeves of his robe are long and lined with pure gold, and the cuffs are large and olive green in color. Occasionally he will wear a variation of this outfit that is decorated with golden designs of trees and vines, but usually only on formal occasions. In contrast with his fancy clothing, he wears simple brown boots, but these are always hidden beneath his robe.
The most noticeable part of his outfit would definitely be his ceremonial headdress. It is a tall miter that, like his robe, is black and lined with gold. Long, thin horns made of pure gold protrude from the front and curve upward. Their tips are as sharp as knives and can seriously hurt someone foolish enough to touch them. Strangely, he is never seen without this hat, and only takes it off while he is bathing or sleeping. The reason for this is unknown, since no one has ever mustered up the courage to ask him. Many golden tassels hang from the ends of his headdress.
History:
Nikanoru is an important figure in the distant Xingese Empire. He has been the chief adviser of the emperor ever since he assumed the throne, and comes from an influential clan. Not much is known about his early life, other than that he received a fine education and did not have many friends.
In addition to serving as an adviser to the emperor, he has also been in charge of researching alchemy for most of his career. He studied under the previous occupant of the position ever since he was a child, and inherited the post when she vanished without a trace. Some speculated that he was behind her disappearance, knowing how he thirsted for power. They were entirely correct, but nothing ever became of their suspicions.
Nikanoru is the driving force behind the effort to discover a way to utilize alchemy for warfare. He believes that Xing is wasting a valuable resource by using alchemy mainly for medicinal purposes. His alchemy teacher did not believe in using alchemy for war, which was one of the main reasons he despised her. His desire for knowledge caused him to start researching Amestrian alchemy.
Not satisfied with the information on Amestrian alchemy available in Xing, he temporarily vacated his position and traveled to Amestris, where he hoped to learn more about the destructive powers of alchemy.
Alchemy: Nikanoru has a wide knowledge of both Amestrian and Xingese alchemy. Because of his disdain for the latter, he only really focuses on the former.
He has conducted many experiments with Amestrian alchemy. His main focus is on creating human chimeras that Xing can use in its military.
Being a complete coward, he never uses alchemy in battle, since he always runs away before he has a chance to.
Other:
Nikanoru is the inspiration behind Magrace, the main antagonist of the Real World threads. As you can see, he's just as evil, possibly even more so.
