Opening her eyes for a moment, she glanced at both the infants. Both of them were sleeping now, meaning the trip should go easy from this point on.

"I wouldn't say no to that. The sake, at least" Martel said. The first sentence she spoke normally. The second, however, she muttered under her breath, hoping neither of her traveling companions could hear. She didn't want them to lecture her again.

Martel was about to say something in response to Dorochet's defense, but stopped when she heard the baby in Loa's arms starting to whimper. She glanced at Ariana and saw the infant sucking on her fist. "She must be hungry" the snake chimera said simply.

When Loa walked up to her, Martel took the infant female from him. "Just take him for a couple minutes. These two tend to squirm around when I feed them" she said, almost jumping when her daughter stopped whimpering and began actually wailing.

After Loa took Rico from her, Martel turned so her back was facing the bull-chimera and began to feed the crying baby in her arms. Modesty was something she didn't bother with too much around Loa or Dorochet, or most of the other chimeras. It wasn't as though they hadn't seen her undressed during those hellish years in the labs.

Almost immediately after nursing Ariana fell asleep, thumb in her mouth. Seeing the baby sleeping, Martel lowered her shirt. "You still up there, Dorochet?" the snake-chimera called, realizing she hadn't heard a word from the dog-chimera in a while.
