Zolf sat at the barstool and nursed his beer. An empty shot glass sat nearby...next to two other empty shot glasses he'd downed that evening. Before he could even raise his finger, Willy-as if reading his mind-brought another shot of whiskey and a fresh beer to chase it with. The bartender emptied Zolfs ashtray and brought it back.
"So what is it? Female troubles? Boss troubles?" Willy asked casually as he wiped the counter.
"Nothin' much Willy...I reckon I'm just bored out of my skull tonight that's all."
"Well you know what they say about idle hands being the devil's workshop and all that shit." Willy said, "Just don't be blowin' up my customers drinks with that alchemic parlor trick of yours."
Zolf smiled at Willy. "Yeah, I reckon I'm a big pain in the ass when I've had a few too many."
He turned around and scanned the bar. There was a whole lot of nothin' goin on in the place. Two patrons at the barstools-old timers-and a couple guys shooting a friendly game of pool. That and a tired-looking bar maid picking up empty and half empty glasses and bottles of beer. He sighed and glanced at his wrist although He had no watch and hadn't since he'd been thrown in prison. He didn't like to be reminded of the passage of time, but it was something to do.

These were quite times, peaceful one might even say. Bido just hopped that it wasn't the silence before the storm. The little gecko chimera had passed a calm day, enjoy the sun on the roof, hanging around at the Nest chatting casually with his fellow chimera's. Eventually he had decided to go out for a little walk. After a few street corners through the quite little Dulpith Willy's Grill had caught his attantion.
Curious like always Bido had made his way over to the bar, his hood well in place and tail hidden. Kimblee came here from time to time and now that he thought about it he hadn't seen the crazy alchemist yet today.
Once inside Bido could only be proud of his instincts as his guess had been right when he spotted the Alchemist, seeming extremely bored and apparantly been having some solitary drinking going on.
"Do you actually pay for those?" Bido curiously asked as he stood beside Zolf. The chimera had quitely made his way over.

"Bido! My good buddy!" he said, clapping the chimera on the back. He pat the barstool for him to hop on. "Have a sit and get shit-faced drunk with me. He looked over at Willy with a devilish grin, "Heya Willy...you reckon I actually pay for my drinks in this place?"
"I reckon I'd give 'em to you free if you stop runnin' my customers away blowin' there drinks to kingdom come." Willy called from the other end of the bar. "You keep the peace and keep your hot little hands off the drinks an I'll slide 'em your way all night."
"Sounds like a fair shake to me. Don't be givin' me none of that watered down shit now!"
Willy shook his head and brought a whiskey and beer chaser for Kimblee and Bido as well. He planted his palms firmly on the bar and stared Kimblee down. "Don't be thinking I'm giving you free drinks just for good behavior. If someone comes in here makin' trouble, I want to take care of it, get my drift?" He leaned on his elbow and confided quietly. "And say..." he added in conspiring tones, "Keep an eye out for bookie for me will ya? I'm up to my gills in debt to that guy."
Zolf leaned in quietly, "Say..how bout we make this deal...you tell me when he comes in holdin, and I'll make sure he disappears and we can split the proceeds, hm?"
Willy ran his fingers through his tousled mess of curly dishwater blond hair. "Just keep it clean. If you can."
"Me an' Bido will take care of him for ya, right good, wont we pal?" he said, turning to the gecko chimera.

Bido had taken one of the beers, taking a few swings of it, occupying himself with his drink while lightly following Zolf and Willy's conversation.
Of course he didn't pay. Bido hadn't expect Zolf to pay, but it still seemed rather silly going to a bar instead of just having his drinks at the Nest. There was enough booz there and only Greed's men hung out there. Plus of course an occassional whore their boss had pimped up somewhere. Bido couldn't care less really. The thing was that the Devils Nest was the home of the freakshows, and having a tail and scales he felt more at home where people wouldn't stare at him full time.
"Are you gonna make him go slat without a splat?" Bido asked lightly. It was pretty surprising how quickly one could get used to the 'decorative' blood stains on the walls, floor and ceilings. However amusing they were though they were hell to get out of your cloths.

"Looks that way, buddy." he agreed regretfully. "This one's gonna require some duct tape and a sewer nearby to conveniently dispose of the ashes...After I relieve the good fellow of his cash, that is."
Shortly thereafter, the bartender returned and slid a picture of Bookie across the bar counter. Zolf slid it into his pocket along with the schedule of times when the man made his collection rounds. He grinned sharkishly and raised his brow at Bido. "I bet he'll throw in free cigarettes if we make his problem disappear quietly."
According to the schedule, the bookie, flanked with a couple of burly thugs would be coming by later that night. In the meantime it was getting stuffy and smoky inside the bar. It was an early summer afternoon and nothin was better on a day like this than basking in the sun on the roof, avoiding people and the little shit-details Greed often sent him on with his pal.
"C'mon Bido..let's go hide out on the roof and avoid work today, what do you say?"

"Aww too bad." Bido said lightly, just going with the flow. It weren't really his buisness who the alchemist killed or let live. Just as long as it wasn't one of them and didn't cause them trouble he didn't care either.
At Zolf's suggestion Bido grinned. Oh he could find peace in that alright. The sky was still sunny and being cold blooded he'd never say no to being lazy in the sun. "Sure." The chimera agreed eagerly as he finished his drink.

After turning several corners in the winding back roads of Dublith, they finally reached the Devil's Nest. He glanced up the wall of the brick building, catching sight of the highest part of the roof. "I guess you'll be taking the short-cut, eh?" he asked. He assumed Bido would crawl up the wall to get there. "Lucky you... must be convenient, plus you get to avoid being seen by anyone inside."
He walked in the front door, greeted by a nearly empty bar. Greed was nowhere to be seen, Dorochet was asleep on an old, battered couch and that was pretty much it. He crept through the bar and took to the stairs. When he reached the top, he pulled down the attic stairs, climbed up and replacing them, opened the small door out onto the span of rooftop. Shade from tall trees dappled part of the roof and he sat down with a sigh. He lay back, arms folded behind his head and a leg crossed on his knee. "You know Bido...hard work pays off in the future, but laziness? It pays right fucking now. Ain't it great?" he said, flashing a devilish grin.

"Hehehe damn well I am." The chimera grinned as he hopped onto the wall, crawling up a bit before hanging upside down looking down at Kimblee. "Oh I could go through the Nest and still probably not be seen. People don't pay lot's of attention to me in general. Plus it's noon, most of 'em will be out or taking a nap or such. Dorochette was sleeping on the couch earlier. Well sleeping or pretending to I dunno. That guy hears everything." Bido commented. "Well race ya up Crimson." He added before making his way up to the roof in a matter of seconds.
Once upstairs the scaled gecko chimera pulled off his cloak, here no-body would see them so he could enjoy the sun without causing any major freeouts in the town. "Even in the future it's never certain." Bido pointed out. "I'm sorry I'm no alchemist Zolf, I never really got the equivalance laws all too well. Doro tried explaining it to me like some karma stuff but I don't really know that either."
(should we relocate them to the Nest? Btw my dear zolfy, I might be slow on posts the coming 3 weeks but I'll probably still post once a week at least.)
