Name: Alphonse Elric (Son of Hohenheim and Trisha Elric and younger sibling of Edward Elric)
Physical Appearance: Alphonse used to be a carefree kid with lovely blond hair draping at near-shoulder length. His amber eyes were inherited by himself and his brother Edward from their father Van Hohenheim. Much of his physical appearance mimicked his father who was fare skinned and light haired. However, when he and his brother performed the unforgivable act of human transmutation, he lost much of his physical appearance.
His brother fared the best only losing his right arm and left leg, however 'Al' lost his entire body. Luckily his soul was saved due to the fast thinking action of his brother. His soul was attached to a nearby suit of armor. Alphonse awoke to a new body and appearance. Only his innocent voice remained.
Al was now a large bumbling suit of armor, much different to the body he was accustomed to. It took some time to adjust, but eventually Alphonse began to see the shortcoming of his previous body. In his new steel body he could exist without fear of hunger, thirst, chills or sweat. He sports a fashionable sprig of smooth hair sticking out of his helmet. His eyes glow red behind his mask marking his 'presence'.
Personality: Alphonse is in many ways is a juxtaposition to his older brother Edward. Edward in many cases carries the burden of handling the family business on behalf of himself and Alphonse, however Alphonse means to conduct himself in accordance with his own view of morality and makes sure Edward never loses his own sight on right and wrong. Many times, Al finds himself an objective observer since, sometimes, he doesn't consider himself to be human.
Al is more of a pacifist where his brother is a fighter to the end. Alphonse cares more for strangers or strays than his brother who may view them as someone(thing) to hold them back. Alphonse is not afraid to voice when his view on a situation differs from that of his brother. However, he trusts his brother to no end and will follow him down any path, even if it means his destruction. To that same end, however, Al would never allow his brother to commit his own body or life to restore his body.
Likes and Dislikes: First and foremost, Alphonse hates to see others in pain. He despises people who prey on the weak and therefore constantly defends those who cannot defend themselves. Alphonse dislikes some of his brother's over the top antics. Al hates that he cannot enjoys life's pleasure in his current body. He wishes to eat delicious food and feel a warm embrace. Al doesn't like to be reminded of his large size.
Alphonse likes stray cats ... too much! He often finds stray kittens on his various journeys and harbors them inside the empty armor he occupies. He enjoys reading books of any scholarly subject. He likes being in the outdoors and enjoys breath-taking landscape along his adventures.
Abilities: Alphonse is a very capable alchemist. He has seen the door of truth and therefore can create alchemic transmutation without the use of a transmutation circle. He need only clap his hands together and transmute whatever he chooses. This allows him to surpass some alchemic steps others have to perform. Also, Alphonse is a highly capable hand-to-hand fighter, even more so than his brother Edward.
Alphonse had developed perfect stance and balance through the use of his surrogate body, which is a suit of armor. These two combinations make him a formidable foe and together with his brother they are nearly undefeatable. He knows almost all capable Amestris alchemic skills and can cast them as quickly as anybody. His fighting skills make him a target above his brother many times. For this he takes much responsibility, and therefore keeps on top of his skills.
History: When he was a kid, Alphonse Elric had many fond memories. He can remember playing sports with his brother and the constant competition that came along with competing with his older brother. When he was a adolescent he remembers a late night when his father left him (and his whole family). It was two days after he remembered taking the family photo, where his father Hohenhiem was photographed weeping. It was a tender moment for Alphonse and his brother. Not long after that moment, his father left. It was never explained why his father suddenly left during such a crucial development stage for Edward and Alphonse.
A few months passed and together they felt the loss of their mother, the only parent left in their life. Thinking they were abandoned to lived the rest of their very long lives without the love of a parent, they despaired and decided to do the only logical thing: transmute their dead mother so that she would return to them and love them and teach them the things she would never be able to...
It was very apparent after they attempted to bring back their mother that they did not possess the power necessary for such an act. It was now Ed and Al's goal to figure out a way to bring back their mother and their newly lost bodies. Edward visited Winry to obtain an artificial arm and leg, however Al had already obtained a substitute body, although it never seemed like much of a 'body' and more of a 'shell'.

Reason I wanted to play this Character: Being a younger brother myself, I found a quick fascination with Al's character. Plus later on his character is developed into a very mature person who makes the wisest choices. Also I enjoy RPing canon character that have a large role in the plot. That way I feel I can be apart of everything, not merely looking in from the sidelines.
Progress in Anime/Manga: I have completed both anime but have never read a FMA manga.
Sample RP:The sun was shining brightly as Al walked through the streets of Rush Valley. The mountain peaks visible in the near distance. He could hear all sorts of clamoring. There were vendors shouting their wares to the passersby, and bikes and automobiles whizzed by constantly. Life was very vibrant here in Rush Valley.
Winry was back at the house fixing Edwards automail and Alphonse could not stand to be cooped up in the house with Edward's outbursts and the loud noise that would always follow (Winry slamming Edward in the head with a wrench). Winry realized halfway through the procedure that she let another Automail tinkerer borrow one of her tools. This was a perfect way for Al to get out of the house and see the sites a little.
"Hmm ... Winry said it was just around the corner ..."
Al was wandering all around town. He had lost his way.
"Excuse me miss," Al voiced to a middle-aged dark haired woman who was selling some supplies. "Do you know where Mr. Dominic's Auto Mail shop is?"
The lady shrugged at Alphonse and then proceeded to get him to buy some automail from her. He shrugged back and continued along the path. He treaded along, many people watched him as he went. I guess it was not everyday that citizens of Rush Valley witness a 6 foot tall suit of armor wandering about.
Al began to feel a bit self-conscious and so he walked into the alley and tried to travel without so many onlookers.
"Why does my new body have to be so bulky?" he questioned pointlessly to himself.
It was then that he saw a stray cat licking out of a dirty puddle in the alley. It had the look as if it were a street cat. It had no tag or collar or any other markings entailing ownership. He was a little skinny and his fur was dirty. But he had such big eyes and they stared at Al. He knelled to the cat reaching for it:
"Aww you are just hungry aren't you? And thirsty..."
The cat continued to drink from the puddle. He picked the cat up and it let out a meow that sounded a lot like a sigh. It was a lazy meow. He continued his journey looking for Dominic and Winry's tool, but now he had a companion.
