The character is near completion. Please, critique my work because I am horrible with my grammar.
Your character should also follow the rules listed here.

Picture:
Alias: The Affine Alchemist
Name: Lieutenant Riley Ledon
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 158lbs
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Hazel/Green
Chalk Array on the back of Hands
Personality: Riley is a genuinely open, kind, and thoughtful person. Because of
this, not many people have a problem with him staying around most of the time.
As a dog of the military The Affine Alchemist finds his job neither stressful
nor feels that people rely on him. Due to the fact his alchemical skill has a wide
range of fields and uses, he has trained himself to be very obedient to his
superior officers. Most people have come to realize not to take advantage of
this, as they need him more often than he needs them. Riley is almost never shy
around new people, talking to him the first time makes you feel as if you've
known him and have been his best friend forever. Occasionally, Affine, a name he
is called expediently thanks to his reputation, finds that he has nothing to
discuss when talking to new recruits during formal events. When this happens, he
turns immediately to his artwork as a way build his sociological karma.
Physical Description: The Affine Alchemist is a boy of average height and mild
muscular physique, a build best described as "average" by his commanding
officers. With rusty brown hair and hazel eyes encompassing dense green
streaks, many girls find themselves starring into them like a clear river; only
to soon realize that he has absolutely no interest. His hands are clean, and his
nails are well kept. Many girls consistently ask how he keeps them so clear, at
which he answers, "It must be all the chalk-dust.". Riley takes great care in his
military uniform. You will find that on close inspection, at some point or
another, he had entirely restitched all of the seems with embroidery thread. This
was because he was told by his superiors early in admissions, there would be
very strict uniform inspections. Also, he polishes his boots every morning after
breakfast.
History:
Early Life - Born as Riley Thomas Ledon on September 26th in a hospice near
Central Headquarters, the Affine Alchemist was the son of a devout military
couple; Thomas A. Ledon, and his wife Sherry A. Ledon. Riley's life continued in
short bursts between living with both his mother and father, and living with
Erin Molchivich a friend of the family turned full time babysitter. While his
family went on the fighting, Riley was learning to read and more importantly,
simple math.
As A Child - At the age of 6, Riley was not the kind of boy who would go outside
to play with the other neighborhood children; he could always be found reading
simple stories and drawing pictures from the comfort of his own room. Until the
age of 8 the young Affine Alchemist has little knowledge of alchemy, how it
functioned, or what it was even for. That was until just one year later, he and
Erin both received the somber news that both Thomas, and Sherry Ledon, had be
found dead on one of their very simple patrol rounds. Later ruled as a petty
thief with a disposition to the military, with a very brand new semi-automatic
pistol.
The Sprouting Alchemist - Upon the death of his parents, Riley continued to live
with his caretaker Erin. A woman who he personally seemed to him more fitting to
the role of a mother than his own has been. The inheritance left behind to him
by his parents included a moderate store of 1300 silver shillings to pay for
their sons education, a 200 gold coin penance paid to his remaining family by the
military treasury, and all of his parents possessions. Among these possession
where his fathers small library of textbooks, journals, and papers. Within,
Riley found a book, one he carries with him always, titled "Umbra Ratio Quod
Affine Vultus Un Eximius Positus" or "Affine Shape and the Shadow Theory of
Super-Position".
The Budding Alchemist - Reading this book and others, lead to the beginning in
his early experimentation with alchemical energies near the age of 11. Riley
soon found it difficult to control his alchemy. At best he was able to create
eating stencils and dishware. However, Riley had concluded that he himself was
not the problem, but rather the arrays he was forced to draw to preform the
alchemy. With youthful diligence, hard work, and determination he had begun
experimenting with new arrays, and shapes for alchemical inscription. After 10
months of this constant research, he had become to realize that drawing more
complex arrays to preform alchemy was inefficient for his work. Taking days just
to draw just one large array on the floor in chalk that in the end did nothing
was not working in his favor. In his next one-hundred-fourteen attempts nothing
happened. Luckily, the next array yielded an amazing result. The chalk in which
he has inscribed his circle, retransmuted into a square, circumscribed in a
square, circumscribed in a square, circumscribed in a circle. This was in his
mind his second most important discovery; The chalk transmutation array.
The Blooming Alchemist - After his new array had been discovered, the rest of
his research became easy. With the ability to transmute chalk, he was able to
imagine the arrays transmuting into the new arrays he wanted. His speed
increased from one array every two days, to almost twelve or fifteen an hour.
During his research he had found a more complex Ice alchemy array, which he
later used to make a rudimentary refrigerator for Erin's new boyfriend, and a
"Miricle Grow" array which his used to grow rose bushes, which many of the
neighborhood girls flocked to almost every Sunday. Life was going good for him, and
the military was taking great notice in his research. That is the peak in his
fame as an alchemist, and the near the final time he would ever create a new
array.
The Lotus - On a normal day, Riley would create 60 new arrays to try in any
given day. However, on this day Riley and Erin were sitting at the table eating
there morning breakfast. Shortly after sitting down, a sharp knock came from
their door. A tall blue uniformed man walked into the home looking around. Erin,
seeing that the man was looking for something or someone asked the Military
officer what he was looking for. He turn to her quickly, with a wide warm
heated smile and kindly said, "Why, I want to take a quick look at this
workshop the young boy here has been running. I heard its the best place in town
I can get this here gearbox fixed.". Out the officer pulled a very old looking
music box that had been split strait down the middle by cracks of old age. After
Erin invited the man to sit down with them to breakfast, insisting the man had
not been eating well, the young Riley Ledon lead the officer into his study.
After drawing an small alchemical chalk array on the floor, Riley proceeded to
pour roughly a pound of chalk dust on the floor, before transmuting it into a 6
foot wide repair array. This particular array, he had created himself to repair
porcelain. The music box began to slowly reassemble itself into its former shape.
After about 20 minutes, the box gleamed with the appearance of a brand new, well
artisan piece of musical beauty. Riley insisted on not taking the officers
100 shillings, but the man did not refuse. Shortly after, Riley began his usual
daily alchemical research.
Looking down at his watch, he knew it was already dark, but because his study he
had built with no windows there was no way to really tell. Soon, Erin would come
into the study, hand him a large glass of iced tea, and he would head off to
bed. Riley spent a couple of minutes debating with himself weather or not to
finish one last array, or just lay down and get some sleep. He decided to go
ahead and get one last array in before he quit for the night. Pouring a large
one pound bag of chalkdust on the floor he formed his new array, a circle,
circumscribed in a septagram, circumscribed in a circle. After transmuting the
chalk into his transmutation circle, Riley took one long inspective look at it.
The circle has no breaks or creases, no misguided lines, disproportionate angles,
or misrepresented markings. This was odd for a seven pointed shape, normally he
always screwed these up the first time, but for once this once was as close to
perfect is he will ever get. Riley almost felt bad for having to get rid of this
one. He yet didn't realize, that he never will have to get rid of it.
Affine laid both hands on his newly formed circle, something deep inside him
still told him something was wrong, but he muttered "Affine Vultus" to himself.
It was mantra that told him, "Don't worry Riley, this circle is perfect. It's
probably not going to do anything anyway.". Either way a bead of sweet rolled
down his nose. Affine closed his eyes and concentrated, the array had activated,
and the room filled with a bright green haze. He felt as though the inside of
his own body was being ripped from the inside out, but he couldn't move. His
muscles tensed and locked up, there was nothing he could do but let the array
finish. 30 seconds into the transmutation a dense white fog engulfed the room.
He could feel the moisture in his lungs. Riley knew it was just water vapor, but
the room was so thick with it he began to choke. His own experience had told him
that this could be the end of it all, drowning by breathing in clean healthy
air. Eventually, after a time that seemed like lifetimes to Riley, the
transmutation array was complete. With a bright flash of light and large all
encompassing wave of pressure, the young boy was flung into the wall of his
study, shattering many wooden boards. Physically, the only wounds he suffered
were those of small scrapes, and large bruises. Opening his eyes, he directed
all of his attention to the center of his room. Struggling to stand up, Riley
couldn't keep his eyes from the ground. The array which he created was scorched
a solid inch into the stone that made up his rooms floor, and standing in the
middle of the once existing array, was a single, long, green stemmed lotus. The
lotus had seventeen thick white tapered petals, and a seed in the middle of the
whole. Surrounding it was thin wisps of white dust, the flowers pollen.
All of this noise had brought much attention to the alchemist, and lead to his
final testing a state alchemist. A test he passed by backfiring an array another
had created, and transmuting the air in water to fall as snow. His test was
preformed in mid august. Ever since that one day in the study, Riley felt part
of him went missing. Perhaps he thought, maybe I had to give up part of myself
to create even this flower. He has stopped creating new arrays, and has not
since known the joys and feelings of love.
Alchemical Power: Chalk Transmutation - The ability is to transmute chalk into
transmutation circles, that he in most cases cannot use himself. For example,
creating a large earth transmutation circle, so someone else can run to it,
transmuting a large wall. Kinda like an alchemical assist. This may also be
used to make existing circles slightly larger, thus increasing energy output,
exasperating an existing circles size in order to rebound on the user,
to significantly shrink an existing circle to make it useless, or turning
an existing circle into an array made of squiggles and doted lines, or a terrible
chalk representation of Picasso.
This power is limited to circle drawn in chemically inert materials such as chalk,
limestone, and coal. Circles drawn in existing earth, or in by a chemical
catalyst he has no control over. Also his basic limitations include circles larger
than about 8 feet in diameter, before his circles begin to dissipate. Also, all
of these actions use ungodly amounts of chalk. Which in the end, he does end
up synthesizing himself.
About the Lotus: Affine carries both this and the book "Umbra Ratio Quod Affine
Vultus Un Eximius Positus" in his satchel. The plant was later found to have
both powerful antiseptic qualities, and the centers of each petal when eaten,
increase the production of hormones and endorphins in the body, essentially
making the person happier. Later medical breakthroughs include the production of
anti-depressant oral medications, and anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and unknown
at the time anti-viral injected vaccinations for polo and small pox. The seed of
the flower is covered with razor shape micro fiber needles, that when exposed to
open skin, inject the contactee with a powerful neurotoxic-hallucinogen. This
make the subject have uncontrollable suicidal tendencies, very everyone as
demons, and make the inside of there entire body feel like it is being eaten.
There is no known anti-toxin.
Below are the rules and how my character follows them.
1. Your OC must have flaws
--- This character cannot fall in love, is not a very good alchemist, and very curious in nature.
2. Your OC must not be a Homunculus
--- Nope, completely human.
3. Your OC may be in love with a canon character, but you may not say the feelings are mutual
--- Can't fall in love.
4. An OC cannot be related to a canon character.
--- Is not related to a canon character.
5. No Video Game Canons.
--- That wouldn't be very original, so no.
6. Your OC must use an array to perform alchemy, but feel free to be creative. THIS MEANS YOU CAN NOT HAVE SEEN THE GATE!
--- Did not see the gate
--- His only real power is to use alchemical arrays.
7. You may play a canon in addition to your OC (people who are already playing canons must keep their current character as a temp or a second permanent character. If you fail to play that character then your OC will be taken away.)
--- I actually don't really like playing OC's, I feel that I can't do the characters justice.
8. In order to be accepted, your OC must be approved by THREE of the FIVE staff members.
--- It has to be excepted by 3 of 5 staff members.
9. All weapons and powers must fit into the FullMetal Alchemist world. No demonic powers nor any special weapons (e.g. Inuyasha's Tetsusaiga)
--- No, the only real weapon he has other than chalk; Is a dog issued carbon steel bowie knife and pistol, and a flower.
10. Your character may have arrays tattooed on their body, but it may only be on one part of the body (i.e. hands, feet, one arm, one leg, etc.)
--- Does, have a chalk array on the back of hands only.
11. All alchemy powers must be original. No copying canon character powers (e.g. only Scar can blow people's brains up and only Kimblee can turn people into bombs)
--- Yeah, my characters power of alchemy is to transmute transmutation circles.
12. The military may have swords. However, when on duty, they may not use their swords. They must use military weaponry.
--- A dog issued carbon steel bowie knife, and pistol.
13. Alchemy MUST be with a physical element and must fit within alchemy laws. (I didn't think I had to put this since everyone has seen the show and it's a rule of the show)
--- Indeed, physical element would be chalk.
Your character should also follow the rules listed here.
