---Character Information---
1.) Character Name -- Lan Fan
2.) Character Bio -- Lan Fan is one of Ling Yao's bodyguards, as well as granddaughter to Fu, Lin's other bodyguard. She is a skilled fighter despite her age, and can keep up with and defend against seasoned warriors. Fiercely protective of the prince, anyone who attacks him verbally or physically will find themselves in a world of hurt and danger so long as she's around. Lan Fan goes to any extremes necessary to protect Ling, even severing her own arm and attaching it to a dog to trick Pride when she is fighting him and things turn grim. This requires her to have to get an automail arm, but doesn't necessaarily seem to hinder her very noticeably.
3.) Relationships with people -- Ling Yao: Ling is the sole focus of her job and keeps her dedicated in protecting him. Lan Fan is very protective of the young prince as she is devoted to him in her work. It may seem that she has feelings for him, but the issue is never directly addressed. Whether she is merely one hundred percent set on serving him to her utmost ability or is doing so because she feels deeply for him can be left to one's opinion and imagination.
Fu: Lan Fan's grandfather, he is the other male who keeps her devoted to her duty as a guard to the prince. When she messes up in any sort of way or does something foolish, the old man is the one to put her back in line.
4.) Likes -- Her grandfather, Ling, the sense of pride and accomplishment that comes from succesfully fufilling her duty as a bodyguard, a challenging oppenent.
5.) Dislikes -- Arrogant, ignorant people, anyone who threatens Ling's safety or reputation, feeling defeat through any way, feeling useless.
6.) History of the character -- Lan Fan is consistently shown by Prince Ling's side throughout most of the Fullmetal Alchemist manga and Brotherhood anime. Ever the loyal bodyguard, she's rarely seen without him. Not much else is to be said about her history, other than her coming with Ling from their country over to the one where Fullmetal Alchemist primarily takes place. At one point she leaves with her grandfather Fu to get automail surgery for her arm, but the moment she reaches minor stability, she returns to the prince's side.
---Your Info---
1.) Why do you want to be this character? In truth, Lan Fan is up there with my favorite characters from Brotherhood and in the manga. Her loyalty and dedication makes her admirable, and I feel I can really strive to roleplay her properly.
2.) How far are you into the Anime? Last year I was watching Brotherhood, but I took a very long break. Currently I've started over and am at the part right before Gluttony "swallows" Edward and Ling.
3.) How far are you into the Manga? I've read through volume seventeen. In other words, I've stopped right at the part where Kimblee walks in with Winry and the Elric brothers kind of realize something bad's about to go down.

Lan Fan refused to cry out in pain, instead letting her right arm grip at the bleeding stub where her left one used to be. She tried her best not to look at the blood that was staining her fingers - she had seen her fair amount of bloodshed, and this would not phase her. The bodyguard trudged on underground in the sewers, doing her best to ignore the horrible stench. Down here she'd be safe. But what was her safety if his wasn't certain? She answered the question for herself. 'Nothing.'
Of course he'd cried out in protest when she'd cut off her arm, for her prince was a young man who cared about those beneath him - including his bodyguards. She felt pangs of regret for displeasing him in such a way, but Lan Fan knew that her decoy would ultimately work to his advantage. And if it worked to hers as well, that would be another plus. But as it was any other day, for years and years, her first and foremost concern was to keep the prince safe at all costs. And if that cost was her life, then so be it.
Teeth gritted tightly, body trembling, Lan Fan trudged on with one thought in her head. 'I'm coming for you, my prince. Please be okay.'
