Russell was sick of it. The tall blonde sat in his study, gripping a bottle of Red Water in his hand. An angry look was plastered on his face and he stood, knocking over a pile of books beside him and setting the bottle down. How was it that he and Fletcher had worked so hard, and gotten nowhere?! He sighed heavily, pulling his mask off and tossing it to the table. He walked out, and up to his bedroom.
He yawned and lay on his bed, folding his hands behind his head. Sometimes he just wanted to give up...he couldn't, though. He had to do this for dad...for Fletcher...for himself.
Even if it did mean doing the wrong thing.

((Ok...bare with me until I get the hang of this character ^^;  ) FLETCHER Fletcher knocked on the door timidly. He knew his brother had worked so hard for them both. He slowly opened the door to Russell's bedroom. "Is...everything ok?" He asked. "I heard somethings fall and then you came in here." He continued as he walked into the bedroom. |

"Oh...Fletcher," Russell smiled smally at him, sitting up and propping his elbows on the bed, "Everything's fine. I just accidentally knocked over some books. How are you doing?"
He bit his lip, always worried that Fletcher wasn't doing as well as he seemed. He didn't want his brother to get sick because of the red water, or have second thoughts about all of this. He sat up on the edge of the bed, then stood. He walked over to his younger brother and placed his hand on his head, ruffling his hair slowly and thoughtfully.
"You're okay...right?"

Fletcher looked at his big brother and smiled, "Yes, I am." He said to his brother. He sometimes worried about his brother. He was glad that he was so passionate about his research, but he also saw that it took a toll on him. He just continued to smile at Russell to mask his worry.

"We may as well go over to the lab," Russell sighed, "We've been away from it for a while, huh?"
He knew it hadn't been that terribly long, only since the morning, but wanted to get back to work. He hated not finishing things, and despite Mugear's hurriedness, he just wanted this done for himself already. He wanted to go and get himself and Fletcher out of here as soon as possible. He knew that Mugear was not a good man, and didn't want to be mixed up in everything going on here...
"Fletcher, go to the library and fetch me volumes five and eight of 'Alchemy', please," he said quietly as they walked down the hallway, "I'll need those to take notes from for my next experiment."
He glanced over towards his brother, waiting for a response.

Fletcher nodded with a smile as he watched his brother leave down the hallway. "Ok!" He said with enthusiasm. He ran into the library and searched through the books to find 'Alchemy.' He found them and grabbed the two volumes that his brother requested. They were rather large books and so carrying two of them was a little tough for him. But he managed to follow his brother down the hallway.

Russell entered the lab and took the books from Fletcher. He looked thoughtful as he set them down and opened one of them. After a moment, he looked at his brother and smiled smally.
"Maybe we should go on a trip," he said quietly, "To Central. I hear they have a lot of books that could come in handy for us."
He thought it was a good idea, not to mention it would get himself and Fletcher out of the mansion for a while.

Fletcher liked the idea of going to Central. Though that excitement soon drifted away. "Uhh, brother, are you going to pretend to be Ed again?" He asked nervously. He didn't want to get into trouble, not to mention he didn't want to make Ed and Al angry again.

Russell grinned sheepishly.
"If I have to," he murmured, "But...only if I have to."
He noted the look on his brother's face and sighed heavily.
"Okay, I won't pretend to be Ed again. Hey, maybe we'll see Ed and Al while we're there."
He smiled warmly.

Fletcher was a tad disappointed, he wanted to leave right away. "Sure brother!" He said with a smile. He really did like the Elrics, or at least Al. "What do you want me to do till then?" He asked.

"Okay, good," Russell smiled, and then thought as Fletcher asked him what do to, "Well, if you'd like to come with me to town, I want to do some shopping. We need to bring along some food and supplies since we'll be traveling so far. Central is a while away, and we'll get hungry on the train."
He smiled, chuckling a little.

"Good," Russell nodded, then pulled on a coat.
He took Fletcher by the shoulder and walked out of the room, happy to be going out and shopping instead of doing work.

Fletcher walked with his brother out of the mansion. "So what kind of things will we get?" He asked his brother. He knew they would get snacks, but he wanted to know exactly what he could look for. "Should we get something to bring the Elrics?" He asked. He knew his brother didn't get along with Ed very well, however, he thought that maybe they could try and be friends.

At the mention of getting something for the Elric brothers, Russell did in fact look a bit sour. He never had a problem with the younger one, but Ed was most definitely a different story. He couldn't ever completely get along with the shortie, for so many reasons. They were just too alike, really. Fighting and talking serious. He shrugged slightly.
"Sure," he said, just to make Fletcher happy, "You can pick something out. I don't really know what they'd want."
He stuck out his lip a bit, not wanting to look like a nice guy when the Elrics knew him as the tough guy. He looked thoughtful as they entered the market.
"I want to get some takoyaki for sure..." he muttered.

Fletcher was happy that his brother was willing to get the Elrics something. Maybe it is possible for those two to be friends. He thought as he smiled up at his brother.

Russell noted the smile out of the corner of his eye and warmly smiled back. He patted Fletcher's shoulder fondly and looked around for something that the two of them could buy for the trip.
"Hmmm..." he sighed.
