Barry whipped his hand back as the youngling snarled at him, hissing between gritted teeth in surprise. He listened in slight amusement to the young girls explanation, and couldn't help smiling, in a slightly creepy way. Well, he couldn't help it. Most of his smiles were creepy, if they weren't, it was either because he was REALLY happy, or just scared like shit.
As he watched the girl toddle away, he chuckled slightly. Well...at least she's learning her history at a young age...He turned to the crib as he heard the infant burble in curiosity. Seeing the little boy reach down to the other kid, which was still chewing on the wood, he reckoned he'd better do something before disaster struck. "Niki bites."
"Woah there lil guy!" He anxiously scooped up the young boy, keeping a watchful eye on the other as he continued to chew on the crib. "You should stop now, where will this lil fella sleep if you eat his bed? Isn't that a tad unfair?" He reprimanded slightly, though not unkindly. He gazed down at the small boy he was holding, slightly surprised at his action. Well...guess it was just by instinct. He thought with a sigh.

Markus saw the first figure walk towards him, mumbling this and that, words yet to be understood by him. He did get the fact that he was being picked up and responded with a gurgle on a higher, happier note. He then blew a bubble with his saliva, giggling as it popped.

Barry twisted his head out of the way, so as to avoid being smothered in spit. He didn't avoid it all-together, and felt the small specks of moisture hit one side of his face. He chuckled and shifted his grip on the child so he had one hand free, allowing him to wipe his face.

"Matress. Floor. Pillow?" Nikolai suggested when Barry asked him where Markus could sleep. The boy then went back to chewing on the wooden frame of the crib.

Barry sent a stern glance to the boy. "No, he can't just sleep on the floor. For one, its much to cold for a baby, and two, theres a reason that the crib has bars." He sighed. "Its so the baby doesn't roll out of it, so it doesn't damage itself. You get that lil guy?"

It seemed that Markus was indeed ahead of his time, or that he was just particularly quick at picking up certain words. For when 'roll' was mentioned, he did just that, ignoring the hand that held him and the distance to the ground. He twisted himself, giggling as he did, with his arms in the air, for it was all a game to him.

"WOAH-HOLY SHI-" Barry grabbed the young boy in midair, as the little kid twisted out of his grasp. "Easy there...Don't do that!" He held the kid slightly tighter than before, checking to see if it was all right. He sighed in relief. No harm seemed to have been done, though Barry suspected he may have startled the kid slightly with his frightened outburst.

Dante walked alongside him, remaining silent. While her face was expresionless, on the inside she was rather surprised. She had not expected him to take her hand like that! A small gesture, but she could not remember the last time she ever held hands with someone. Moreover, he was the last person she would ever expect that from.
She stepped up to the counter with him and waited as he paid the fee. When he spoke to her, she smiled flirtatiously. "You know me well," she chuckled sultrily. "And a small cola, if that isn't too much."

Markus stopped at the sudden yelling, just staring at the figure that held him. Then he began sniffling, it wasn't that the man had yelled, one got used to that in such a house, it was the fact that the man seemed tobe somewhat upset with him, like he'd done something wrong.

Barry panicked slightly as the kid showed signs of crying. "Oh-don't cry! Its ok, I'm not angry!" He said frantically, not exactly sure what to do. The last thing he needed was to be accused of causing some childs bawling.

Martel soon got to the house, no thanks to a couple of hookers asking her if she wanted a ride. She got her keys out, but was somewhat surprised to find the door unlocked. Denny must've gone out for a few minutes and forgotten to lock the door. Martel pulled open the door and saw Denny. "Hey, Bloch" she called to him, "How were the kids?" She really wasn't expecting much----Arden and Nikolai were handfulls, to say the least.

Markus grabbed the closest hand, pulling it to him and gripping it tightly as he sniffed himself into silence. It seemed that he was quick to regain himself, almost instantly gurgling out loud again "Fghwwu~"

"Did I miss something?" Martel asked when she stepped a little closer to Denny and saw that he looked like he'd just won the lottery. So, that probably meant he'd actually scored a date with that Maria Ross woman.

Barry sighed in relief as the boy calmed down. "See, I ain't that bad, am I?" Well, at least a kid of that age wouldn't know, anyway. "Allright...I reckon know your up you need something." He turned out of the room, still holding the young boy and carefully went down the stairs. He stopped as he saw the little group of three standing by the door. "Erm...he woke up, so I reckoned it was wise to take him down." He said sheepishly, though watching them intently. He still wasn't used to the fact that this house probably held his ticket straight back to jail if he was recognized.

Denny grinned from ear to ear as Martel came in. "Sorta. I'm gonna be a dad." He wiggled his fingers and bounced around a bit, the excitement starting to really get to him. Not even the killer entering the room with the youngest resident, for now, could bring him out of his mood. Hell, the small kid, if anything, made him even more excited about the extension to his family. "Yeah, he needs his milk. Hold on to him for a minute."He said, pulling open the fridge and preparing the baby's drink. The whole time his grin did not disperse. "Here." He handed the bottle over to the flailing arms of the boy, who gladly received the bottle. Markus stuck the bottle in his mouth and sucked greedily, eyes closed as he wiggled his feet.

Okay, that was unexpected. "Really?" Martel asked, unable to really believe it. From what she could tell, Ross didn't really acknoldge Denny in anyway. So, how could she possibly be pregnant with his kid?

((Well, here goes nothing. I’ve been somewhat intimidated at entering this thread for a while, but this looks like a decent opening. FYI, I’m trying to make my character considerably different from his real version to go with the “alternate world” theme present in the FMA movie.)
An exceptionally fat man was propped up against a lamppost outside a house, smoking a cigar and exceptionally bored. While he was a rather disgusting sight to behold due to being obese and bald, he was well dressed, having a black suit and tie along with a bowler hat which he used to attempt to hide his lack of hair. The man also had a monocole and was holding a brief-case. Clearly the man was quite rich. He looked off to the house he was waiting outside briefly, then looked down at his watch and thought to himself “Have the owners still not come back? I won’t make it to my meeting tonight at this rate, much less dinner. . .”. The man licked his fat lips at the thought of food. Clearly he was getting rather hungry.
As soon as he started getting impatient, the person who seemed to be the owner of the house, a woman, came back to the place, along with a few other people. Taking a peek inside, he could see a rather clumsy babysitter coming down. Clearly the house was poor if they had to resort to a peasant like him to take care of their children. . .The man rolled his eyes, then went up to the open door to the house and rang the doorbell to get the attention of the people and spoke distinctly with a British accent.
“Hello, good chaps. My name is Bartholomew Gluttony, owner of Gluttony enterprises, and I have an exceptional offer for you. Despite how the economy’s declining, I’m willing to offer you a full million dollars AND a fine establishment on my property in exchange for this load of rubbish you’re living in here, no strings attached. Just sign here, my friends. . .”. Gluttony let out one of his gigantic grimaces and took out a contract from his briefcase and a pen from his pocket, holding them out to whoever was willing to take them, pointing down to the dotted line. “Only a fool would pass up an opportunity like this.”. The contract surprisingly was devoid of fine print with nothing remotely complicated in it, short and to the point. While Gluttony normally wouldn’t come out himself for a matter as small as this, he had very good reasons for wanting this property, and he didn’t want anybody to know about the secrets within it. . .

Hearing the door knock, Martel excused herself from the situation. She walked to the door and opened it. "Can I help you?" she asked the short fat man standing outside.

((Eheh, sorry for cutting to the chase so much. I was just trying to make my opening post worthy. Anyway, seeing the door wasn’t open for him, I’ll just say he does the rest his little “offer” now. There’s nothing much that needs to be changed other then that he’s specifically addressing Martel. Sorry for any confusion.))

"Sorry, but I'm not signing anything" Martel said, pushing the man's hands away. "Anyway, I have to grab my son and take him to the doctor." In an afterthought, she mumbled that she ought to take her daughter along. No reason to let her cause more damage here.
