Haley observed the food, did he mean to be sarcastic, she thought to herself. She grabbed a plate anyway and sat down, she hadn't eaten a thing in forty-eight hours. She was hungry. She started to eat very quickly. The food wasn't that great, but she didn't care.

Kaiser looked at Haley and couldn't help but laugh " yeah i know it's pretty bad....but it's better than...well....nothing." He said with a smile " what would you like to drink?" Kaiser was trying to watch if she would choke on her food or not.

Haley looked up at Kaiser as she shoved food into her mouth, for the first time in a really long time she let out a laugh. She knew she looked ridiculous to him and it made her laugh. She was able to swallow what was in her mouth and then took a drink. "I am just very hungry." she said through somewhat deep breath from the fast eating.

What a cute laugh she's got...~ he thought to himself as she swallowed another giant bite of food, he then shook the thought out of his head. " Do try to pace yourself, you don't want to choke" Kaiser said still chuckling. " So, sorry to bring this back up, but are you sure you don't want to reconsider my offer to help you?"

She stopped eating and looked at him. She knew he was right, she knew that she needed his help. However, her fear of depending on someone again was so overpowering. She didn't know what to say to him, she had no answer. She swallowed the food in her mouth and said, "I will think about it." It was the only thing she could think of to say.

Kaiser just smiled ~ now we're getting somewhere!~ he thought as he wiped something off of his automail arm. "Ya know, I really didn't think i'd be able to get you to open up at all, i'm glad you are, or atleast, seem to be."

As Kaiser wiped his automail, she finally noticed it. She looked at it, "what happened?" She asked timidly.

" Oh this?" Kaiser said pointing to his arm " i got this one day when i was younger, helping my dad in the shop. Long story short, my arm got crushed and i got this one put in it's place." He finished flexing his automail arm. " My dad was a blacksmith so i'd help him alot with his work."

She nodded and went back to eating. She continued to think of a possible answer for him about whether she would stay on as an apprentice. It's not like she had anything better to do. She finished her food and took the last sip of her drink. "That was a lot, but I needed it." she said with almost a chuckle.

Kaiser laughed again " well i'm glad you got your fill." Kaiser had a smile on his face again. "So. Got any type of alchemy you'd like to try out in mind?......other than the human kind?" He said lowering to a whisper when he said the human part. " I specialize in fire and my own special brand of physical alchemy but i'm quite good with the basics too."

Haley cocked her head, "the...human kind?" She asked him. "What do you mean?" She further asked.

Kaiser couldn't help but give her a surprisingly shocked look " wait....you DO know about human transmutation right?" He asked hesitantly in a slight whisper as to not draw attention to himself. " I'm gonna have to teach you alot aren't i?" Kaiser said exaustedly, an anime style sweat drop running down the side of his head.

She was confused, she had never learned of a "human transmutation" before. "My uncle never taught me anything about that..." she started to explain. "He taught me everything he knew. After my parents died and he took me in. I missed them so much the first few years." She explained more. She then realized how much information she had given up and immediately looked away.

Kaiser could recognize when someone had said something more than they had intended and understood completely, but he couldn't stand by and just let Haley hide her feelings by looking away so with his real hand, he gently put his hand on the side of her cheek and slowly made her face him again " You know, this feeling of vulnerability or whatever you might be feeling right now isn't all bad, it just means you're human." He was trying his best to cheer her up " now, lets put a smile on that pretty face." Kaiser was smiling himself now.

She had grown increasingly more uncomfortable as he made her look at him. "I don't like it..." she said to him talking both about her current situation and the idea of being vulnerable.

" Well, most people don't, but it's a sure fire sign that you're just like everyone else." Kaiser said taking his hand away from her. " Sorry about that...i better get some work done." Kaiser smiled again " just hang out or something if you want, i'll be back in about an hour."

Haley nodded without a word, all she could think was I don't like this! She didn't know what was getting into her, she started to care for this person. She felt like she went beyond enjoying his company and moved into actually having some kind of feeling for him, is this what friendship feels like? She asked herself.

Kaiser was questioning how this newly forming friendship would turn out. She sure is a cute one...~ he started thinking as he finished some paperwork but quickly shook the thought away. He finished his work and headed back an hour later than he said he would be. Haley wasn't in the caffeteria anymore so Kaiser made his way to her room, he then knocked a few times.

Haley looked at the door and walked over to open it. "Oh, Kaiser." She said as she saw him standing there. "Done already?" She asked.

" Yup!" Kaiser said rubbing the back of his head. " So...did you find something to keep yourself busy while i was gone?" He asked curiously.
