Taking Down a Terrorist

The sky above East City was a clear blue, with fluffy white clouds littering it's surface. Birds flew across the sky, miniature black dots in the background. Houses were on either side of the streets that antbody cared to walk down, making things appear all the same.

Tai gave a yawn at the dull scenery. The same old same old, day after day. He had thought that when he became a Leiutenent Colonel things would get better somehow. More thrilling missions, for example. Ever since that incident that had got him promoted from a Major, the streets had relatively quiet, though.

A breeze ruffled Tai's golden-brown hair, leaving creases in the clothes he wore; a long blue t-shirt with long forest green sleves. He also had on faded blue jeans that covered up his red-and-white sneakers. His crystal blue eyes reflected the morning sun.

Tai had taken a moment out of his day to shine up his auto-mail, which consisted of his left and right arm, as well as his left leg. He also shined his silver pocket watch before placing it back in his pants pocket, letting the chain dangle from his belt loop.

"Here I was , hoping for some excitement," Tai grumbled as he walked down the street. He was 17, but his maturity sometimes bordered on that of a 12-year-old. He was a kid at heart. Out of complete boredom, Tai placed his had on the pavement below his feet.

There was a quick flash of blue light, and the pavement churned, as if it were being broken down. When Tai stood up, he held a small throwing knife in his hand. He sighed, pocketed the weapon, then continued on.

[Kaiser Rusten [Need Canon]]

Kaiser had been very reluctant to do such a meanial mission but orders were orders, even though he had achieved the rank of lieutenant colonel, he still had higher up that could tell him what to do. He had been strolling down the street in his uniform when he saw some teenage boy coming in his direction. " Good morning young sir, nice day isn't-" he stopped and saw the pocket watch. " They just keep getting younger and younger huh?" Kaiser said more to himself than anything. " So boy, what is your name? You can call me Kaiser, i'm known as the Stone Fire alchemist."

"I'm only 17," Tai said upon hearing Kaiser's comment. "But yeah, I'm a State Alchemist. Nice to meet you." Kaiser was taller than Tai by about a foot, and like most militray officials he wore the standard blue uniform.

"The name's Tai Sky," Tai answered, pointing a thumb proudly at his chest. "Also known as the Albus Alchemist. You can just call me Tai, though. Tai, Albus, Leiutenant Colonel, whatever floats your boat. Although I'd prefer if you didn't call me by rank, much too official."

"So what's your rank, and what are you doing out here? I don't recall their being a Stone Fire Alchemist amoung the alias list. Granted I last saw it two yeards ago, but hey." Tai gave a smile here. He was having a good day thus far. No stupid orders, no being told to do meanial tasks. He basically had the day to himself thus far. He rolled up his sleeves, finished plishing his auto-mail, then rolled down the sleeves and pocketed the dirty cloth. Unlike most people with mechanical limbs, Tai wasn't sad that he had them. They were proof that he had survived a tedious past, and were a sort of symbol of his stature.

Plus, it was always priceless when people realized that somebody so young had limbs like these. The reaction was memorable.

[Deven Hakai]

Deven was in his civilian cloths as he sat alone on a bench eating his ice cream when he overheard a couple of people say they were alchemist so he going to go over there and meet them but he was never good at meeting people. Deven sighed as he began chomping on his ice cream but it spilled over on the ground and Deven eyes began to well up n-no my ice cream." After a few seconds of morning he held out his hand and from a slight glow from his transmutation circle tatoo on his hand the icecream appeared back in it's cone.

"Huh?" Tai turned around. A flash of light caught his eye and he saw someone holding an ice cream cone. Wanting to add the new alchemist to their converstaion, Tai slapped his hands to the ground. An explosion of light and lightning surged forth, and as Tai lifted his hands, what appeared to be a mini telephone booth erupted.

"What can you transmute?" Tai asked with a sly smile. He was up for some friendly competition. His transmutation should have caught his attention. "This booth won't work, I didn't have anything for wires, but it's pretty sturdy!"

Tai pressed his hands onto the telephone booth he had just made, and it appeared to melt right back into the ground. Tai stood up, brushing dirt of his auto-mail, which gleamed as the sun caught it.

Deven watched as the man seemingly did alchemy without a transmutation circle and he said "um..how did you do that with out a circle?" He showed his tatoo over to the man "well I transmute water" as his circle began to glow as water from out of nowere collected into his hand and in a instant the water froze and a small ice sculpture of a angel appeared in his palm. "This is what im best at is freezing."

"Who said I didn't?" Tai asked with a grin. He showed the bottom of his mechanical hands to the boy, revealing two transmutation circles in the palms of the metal surface. "Since I can't feel any pain, I had no trouble carving in these circles. Gives the allusion that I don't need any. Pretty sweet, huh? That's part of the reason why the military accepted me a sa State Alchemist." Tai pointed to his pocketwatch.

"So, who are you? I'm Tai, the Albus Alchemist. This is Kaiser, the Stone Flame Alchemist. Pretty cool alchemy you got there. Did you use the water molecules in the air to come to gether and make that small puddle, then hardened the density and formed ice? Pretty cool!"

Tai was proud of his knowledge. He could usually tell how somebody's alchemy worked just by watching it be performed. He had a keen eye for that sort of stuff.

[Deven Hakai]

Deven gave a small laugh "That was pretty good you saw how my alchemy works with only one look" as he closed his hand and crushed the ice which and he turned into gas. "That's not all I can do, I can change the whole structer in the air by using the water molecules as a medium right now that little bit of water is now ethinol."
Deven bowed his head "My name is The Frozen Alchemist Deven Hakai" as he said with a slight smile as he waved to the other alchemist "I am also a state alchemist."

"So let me get this straight," Lan said, staring the other man in the eye, "the only thing you want me to do is take out any soldiers or military personel that get to close to your opporations here?" He waved a hand almost dismissively at the area around him.

It was little more than a dirty warehouse, the outside looking inconspicuous enough, though inside was quite another matter at the moment. There were a numerous men pushing weapons of all sizes and calibers in different directions, most of the explosive variety. It seemed that they had something going, but Lan could tell right off that they were too small and didn't have the weaponry or man power to really be much of a problem for the Amestrian military. Of course, he wouldn't say that out loud; the customer is always right, after all.

"That's right," the terrorist replied. "I'm assuming that you're up to it, Hallow?"

"Of course." The dark haired mercenary gave him a self-assured smirk. "Don't mock me. None of your 'blue coats' will get within ten yards of this place without my knowledge."

Of course, that had been a fine comment at the time. Lan hadn't been expecting more than a few green soldiers to begin with, if that. If the cavalry came before he got paid, so be it, he'd still be out of there before any large number of of the military came. He didn't think he'd find three State Alchemists this early in the game.

Frowning, he ducked back into the alley he had been eavesdropping from. Two of them were little more than kids; how much could they do? Granted, they apparently knew what they were doing alchemy wise, what with all that technical mumbo jumbo they were talking about, with density and their tranmutations. Would it be better to bail now? No, not just yet. They didn't apparently know about the facility not far away that was collecting weapons. If they'd just keep going, maybe they wouldn't find out, either.

So, he leaned back against the brick wall, covering both sword sheath and gun holster in his ragged black coat so as not to draw any unwanted attention.

Tai was about to say something when he noticed something out of the corner of his eye. It appeared to be a man draped in a black cloak with ragged clothing and an unshaven face. The man gave off an uneasy era, but Tai couldn't quite place why.

"Guys, there's something strange about that man," Tai whispered, moving his eyes to point at the cloaked stranger. "I get a bad feeling from him. Why don't we-" Out of a nowhere a large 'BANG!' Swerving, Tai saw a flame rising from a small hole in a nearby warehouse.

"What the-?!" Tai cried as the fire was quickly extinquished from the inside. Someone cried 'You idiot!' and that was all Tai needed to hear. He knew there had been a smal terrorist organization forming. Colonel Mustang had let on as much during Tai's mission breifings.

Without hesitation Tai slammed his hands to the pavement after getting closer to the building. The earth around the structure warped, twisted, shot up. Soon a small stone wall encircled the building. It was about five feet in the air.

"That was tricky," Tai said as he got up, wiping sweat from his brow. "I couldn't use material from the ground itself, overwise it would cave in and the building would collapse. I had to use material from the warehouse itself to help stabalize things. It's still sturdy, but another explosion might cause it to fall. We'd better see what's going on. It might be that group Mustang spoke off..."

Deven gritted his teeth as the explosian made a bang and he looked at Tai "Crap it was suppose to be my day off." He put his hand on the ground "Tai open the wall and run like hell toward the building I'll create a mist to keep us from being spotted."
With a glow of his hand he said "let's go" as he pulled out his left hand and a small sword of ice grew into his hand. Deven then stood up and made a human sized ice mirror with his right hand "this should stop a few stray bullets."

The ground seemed to rear up like a living thing, contorting and changing as it was urged on by sparkling blue lightning. Lan could only watch as the warehouse was completely encased in a dome of stone, then, under his breath, whispered, "Damn."

That was enough for him that at least one of the kids knew what they were doing. Time for his employers to fend for themselves; he was outta there.

He turned and ran like heck, as all the other regular civilians were, away from the explosion and the large demonstration of alchemic prowess. He still kept his coat around him, since he didn't want to draw attention to himself by exposing his weapons. He took one glance back before slipping into the crowd.

Kaiser spotted the suspicious man and decided to pursuit him. Kaiser was careful not to unleash his alchemy with so many civilians in the area and resorted to pushing people out of his way and keep a low profile while following the strange man.

You're not getting away from me!~ Kaiser thought to himself as he continued to pursue this assumed terrorist. He doned his gauntlets just in case something might happen.

Noticing that Kaiser had chased the man in the alleyway, Tai made for the warehouse he had just blockaded. Pressing his palms to the stone wall he had transmuted, he formed an incersion in the earthen barrier, making a door. He tugged it open and ushered Deven in, closing the door and turning it back to stone after he followed him.

As soon as they came upon the hole in the wall a flurry of bullets greeted them. Quick as a whip, Tai ran at the wall sideways, blocking the bullets with his auto-mail. These idiots must be new at this, they weren't aiming for his chest.

"I just cleaned these!" Tai shouted as he pressed his hands together. Alchemic sparks played across his arms, and his sleeves ripped as long, thin strips of metal jutted out from his mechainical arms. Moving swiftly, Tai sliced off the barrels of the guns that the men were holding. Shocked at what had just happened, Tai took this chance to grab the back of their hair and bang their heads together. The two thugs crumbled to the floor, moaning.

"Two down, a lot more to go," Tai muttered as he swerved. About ten men were coming at him with...

"You've gotta be kidding me!" Tai cried out as the men hurled small, black orbs at him. "They have bombs?!"

If I cut through them, Tai thought, Then they'll just explode, taking me down along with this place!

"Deven!" Tai shouted. "I could use some help over here!"

[Deven Hakai]

Deven ran inside the building as he used his mirror to take all the bullets and after a few seconds used his sword to peirce the leg of one of the shooters as he stole the man's gun and now with his now free left hand and used it as a club as he hit the other shooter beside him in the head shattering the gun's stock.

He dropped the broken gun on the floor as he punched the guy, that he had stabbed, in the face knocking him out "This was suppose to be my day off." When he heard Tai yell something about bombs he looked over to him and saw small black orbs flying at him and he yelled "They got bombs?!!"

With a flash of light from both of his hands the bombs were covered with ice and they froze in place as the ice went straight from the floor and they appeared to be water underneath the ice and next to the bomb's themselfs. After a few seconds the bombs began to melt and he ran behind a nearby steel table.

Deven cried to Tai "I was able to get rid of the bombs by using the water and created sulfiric acid to melt the internal mechinims but" he held the last part out for a few seconds "But im out of water!" He had already used up what water there was in the air in this enclosed building by diffussing the bombs.

Deven pulled out a piece of chalk from his back pocket and drew a circle and by using the ground he was able to make a small pistol which he began making several pot shots at all the people who had him pinned down.

"Thanks!" Tai cried as the bombs melted away before him. He weaved in and out of sight by hiding behind crates as more bullets filled the room.

"Tell me you didn't just say you're out of water!" Tai shouted as a barrage of bullets flew over his head. He ducked down behind a crate. He glanced at the label and a plan formed instantly.

"Cover your ears!" Tai yelled as he placed his hands over the crate's contents. "This might get loud!" A blinding flash of blue alchemical light surged throughout the box. When it cleared, the crate had been turned to steel and numerous gun ends were poointing from it at the crooks. A string led from the box to Tai's hand.

"Syanara, suckers!" Tai shouted as he tugged on the string. Every single gun barrel fired at once when the string was pulled. "You idiots left all your supplies open! With a little alchemy and your weapons, I have a gattling gun with no equal! Not to mention almost unlimited ammo!" The crate next to Tai had been transmuted into an adjoining box, filled to the brim with shiny bullets.

As Tai continuously shot at the men, he missed them. However, he only grinned. He wasn't intending to shoot them. He was using the bullets to knock away the support beams holding the men up.

And it worked. The plaster beams crumbled under the barrage of bullets, sending the thugs earthbound.

Deven took a few more shots when he heard Tai say that he should cover his ears "WHAT" as he saw a flash of light and he put his hands of his ears and he yelled to Tai "YOU BETTER NOT HIT ME."

After the torrent of gunfire he looked at the men all trapped under the debree and he said "don't ya think you over did it there" with a sweat drop behind his head. He threw his pistol at a very large man trying to crawl out in the head.

As the man held his head in pain Deven got his water back when the ceiling caved in used it to freeze him to the floor and he spoke to the man "who is your employer?" As he put a finger to the man's head and began making his head become cold "You better not lie or Tai and I will have a fun game of kickball" he said with a evil smile.

"They're alive, aren't they?" Tai asked with a grin. He brusjed the dust off his clothes, then walked over to the rubble. Using his alchemy, he encased the men in a large stine box with holes for ventilation. Satisfied, he walked over to Deven, who was 'interogating' one of the thugs who had eascaped.

"H-H-Hallow," the man cried out before fainting. "Look for...Hallow from X-Xing..."

"Now whose overdoing it? Tai mocked as he drug the man over and transmuted a pipe into chains, which he linked to the crook's feet. "Hallow, huh? I'm not sure, but perhaps the man Kaiser was chasing might be this 'Hallow'. He didn't dress like anybody would if they were from Amestris. Let's go find them and see what's up."

After returning the stone wall to it's former structure in the ground, Tai and Deven tore off after Kaiser, hoping they weren't too far behind...
