HQ: Working hard or hardly working?

Sheska meekly pushed up her glasses and muttered under her breath about courage, and went in on Winry and Ed's conversation.

"Hello, Ed! Winry!" Sheska said softly smiling.
"How's the search going on?" she asked. Nothing better to do in the Library. She had already read all the books in the First Branch three times each.

Winry forgot her question and turned around to see Sheska. "Oh- hello Sheska." She didn't say anything about what the other question was. Winry wasn't sure what Sheska meant about that. 'it has to do with something Ed is up to...' The bag she was holding was starting to irritate her shoulder from holding onto it for so long, but she knew she had to carry it for a bit longer. Instead of putting it down she simply switched the bag to her other shoulder.

Ed saw Sheska and waved, "Hi, the search is on hiatus. Al and I are taking a break. Not sure where he is right now, though." He explained to his bookworm friend. "Right now, Winry is going to fix my automail from the last couple months." He finished his explanation.

"That's great!" Sheska said putting on a smile.
"See you all later!"

[Winry Rockbell]

Winry waved good-bye to Sheska with a smile. She then turned to Edward. "How much further?" she asked. She was glad she switched arms, because her other arm felt a lil sore.

"Right here." He said as he walked through a door. He walked over to the bed and sat on the side. "just shut the door when you come in here." He requested of Winry.

A soldier came by Sheska, he seemed alert and official.
"Sheska?" he said taking out a letter.
"I am. What it is?" she asked quizically.
"A letter to be delivered to the Elric brothers." he said smartly, giving her the letter and abruptly leaving.


'Well, that was wierd.' she thought, looking at the letter. It smelled of thin air, possibly a watery feel. It felt akward and she looked at the script. It was thin and childish, but sharp and stately. Sheska didn't recognize it and sighed. She didn't want to bother Ed again. She sighed and pulled her glasses upon the bridge of her nose.

The halls were pretty empty as Sheska looked around for Al.
"Alphonse? Where aree you?" she said childishly.

Winry followed Ed inside and nodded. She understood the reasoning and shut the door behind her. She just hoped for Ed's sake that no one else decided to come in. "Alright.." she said putting down her bag and opening it to reveal her loads of tools and parts. Along with a entire extra arm just in case.

Ed got a little more nervous as he began taking off his shirt to reveal his automail arm. "Here you go." He said as he showed her the dented metal. Bolts were missing or loose and even a few chips in the metal; how he managed that, even he didn't know.

Fuery looked up from his notes. He could have sworn he'd just heard Ed's voice.
Standing up and gathering his things, he headed off in the direction he'd assumed the voice had come from.
He ended up outside the storage room.
"I..think i've taken a wrong turn somewhere."The young man let out a sigh as he turned around and glanced at his options.
Walk down hallway A, walk down hallway B or take the staircase up to the Investigations floor.
He grabbed his pen, a small smile for his ingenius idea as he threw it into the air, watching land, pointing towards Hallway A.
"I suppose.."He shrugged indifferently as he bent down and picked up his pen. Pushing his glasses up slightly, he made his way along the Chosen Path.

Winry looked over the damages of Edward's auto-mail. She clenched her wrench in her hand tightly trying so hard not to clobber him at that very moment, but seeing as she couldn't take seeing the auto-mail in such a bad condition her temper took control. "Edward!! How did you manage to damage your auto-mail so badly?!?!?!? I worked on that for hours?!?!" she shouted. Looking over it more, and felt badly for how it was. She threw one of her smaller wrenches at his head. Digging out the tools she needed in the meantime. "You really need to be more careful Ed.." she said in a softer tone.

Ed looked at Winry yell at him. "Well, the missions Mustang sends me on end up being real dangerous...it's like he's trying to kill me." He said with a sarcastic tone, though sometimes he really believed it to be the truth. "I will try to be more careful, but I can't make promises." He explained to Winry.

Winry sighed she wished that him and Al would just come home and stay there with her and Pinako. Winry smiled as she was close to finishing her work. She knew Edward and Alphonse would never return to Risembool at least not until they get what they been searching for. So she knew she had to get better with her auto-mail.

"Almost done." she said putting in a few new bolts that seemed to be missing. She was glad she didn't have to totally replace the arm this time.

Ed knew that Winry worried about him and Al. "Winry..." He said calmly, "Maybe a visit home, wouldn't be so bad..." he said. He wanted her to stop worrying. He also knew that if they hurried they wouldn't have to worry about Mustang finding them and putting an end to their visit home. "So, maybe we can find Al and we three can head back to Risembool together." He said with a smile on his face.

Winry couldn't believe what she was hearing. Her eyes began to sparkle with excitement. "Really?!" she said feeling like she had to be dreaming that her two childhood friends would want to go back to Risembool for anything other than being in trouble. Winry had a huge grin on her face. "Let's go find Al!" she said excitedly.

Ed smiled, he liked seeing her so happy. He also let out a little chuckle. "Shouldn't you finish up my automail?" He asked as he lifted his leg. "This one needs a little maintenance as well, " he finished.

Winry nodded, and then sighed again noticing the damage to the leg as well. She picked up the parts she needed and got back to work again. "Have any idea where Al could be?" she asked Edward while working on his auto-mail

Ed shook his head, "I have been looking for him all day...and what's sad is this base isn't that big! I just don't understand where he might be." He explained to Winry.

Winry finished Edward's auto-mail leg and started putting her tools away. "Well, since I'm done we can go look for him." she said with a hopeful smile. "He has to be around here somewhere..." she said thinking of some places to look. It's not like Alphonse could blend in with a crowd.

Ed moved his auto-mail leg around to make sure it was easy to move. After he was done getting to know the new movement of his auto-mail, he jumped off the bed. "Alright, I don't think he left the base." He explained to Winry. He walked out of the room.
